With so much to do in the area
and for sure going to Broadway should
we try to fit in Barefoot Landing?

I am guessing it will take 2 days
to see everything I want to at Broadway.

I want to have a great vacation but
don't want to have TO much planned.

Its so hard to decide what to do and what
to leave out since I have never been to Myrtle!

It will be the 4 of us
me, hubby, son 15 and daughter 8.

Thanks again for any advice

We stay at the Southern end, so we go to BATB every night. We do get to Barefoot Landing one morning of our vacation... usually if the weather looks like it might turn, or mid-week, when we need a break from the sun for the morning.

Although I personally prefer BATB, Barefoot does have stores that are different. I always go for Carolina Winery. The whole atmosphere is different. I couldn't stay there longer than an hour or so, though.

I say try to fit it in for at least an hour or two one morning....

I like both. But while I could spend a few hours doing the whole roundabout through BATH I usually have only a few stores I check out at Barefoot Landing. Like the General Store, Belches n' Burps, Black Market Minerals, Bone Appetit Pet Bakery, Earthbound Trading Co., and H2O Plus so I usually just park in one parking lot area like the general store, and go tot he few stores in that area then drive around to the other side of the marsh area to the other stores and go to those stores. A hour or 2 maybe is all I need. See I like to spend some time at the stores at BATH after a little happy hour with my mom at Shuckers. I may spend more time and go around the lake while my mom haves another drink. But I like to check out other stores there. probably 2 plus hours there.

We are doing both .. Barefoot because of Ron Jons and last year we found Hat's Galore.. Hubby had/has this flat bill black cap he always wore.. lost it .. last year we found the store and they had it .. we got 2 .. going to get him another black .. and then some other color..

BATH we didn't get to take in much last year and plan to this year.

Hi Trisa, I like both places alot but if you have to pick one I'd do Broadway at the Beach area. There are some of the same shops at both places. With only so much time it isn't worth it to rush around too much and stress yourself out.

What part of PA are you from? I'm from the Ford City area, a 35-40 minute drive from Pittsburgh. Cathy

We enjoy BATB more, but go to Barefoot one evening each trip. We're beach/pool people during the day, everyday (other than 1 afternoon at the outlets for me!), and then go to these places for/after dinner in the evening. Maggie Moo's at Barefoot is fantastic!!! The kids also love watching the fish/turtles. It's a nice atmosphere, but we like the stores and "energy" at BATB more.

Thank you Sandy!

Maybe will will try to get one night.

Is it as long as a wait to eat at places like it is a BATB?

I wont be going to any outlets as we have two
huge ones here in Lancaster!

Is Maggie Moo's a place to eat?

Thanks!
Trisa

Trisa, You grew up in Brookville, I do know where that is. I'm up that way 2 or 3 times a year near Cook Forest, Clear Creek etc. Growing up, a camp in Sigal and we now have a camp near St. Marys (Weedville Pa area.) What a small world. Cathy

Wow that is funny.
I love Cook Forest!

My brothers have friends with a camp in Sigal
and I have family who live in St. Marys!

Clear Creek is nice as well but man is that water always
freezing!

Sorry, yes, Maggie Moo's is ice cream! Coldstone-style, where they mix stuff in. But SO much better than the Coldstone at BATB - we had real issues there.

As far as restaurant waits - I'd say they're comparable to BATB. Some take reservations. We find that if we go early - by 5:30 or so, most places have no or minimal waits. That's throughout the MB area.

Pretty much feel the same. Barefoot obviously would be a choice if you wanted to go to Alligator Adventure or see the TIGERS. I like going there at least once. There's a lot more available walking around space around the water. I so loved the General store there. BATB has Ripley's Aquarium so we go there as well because my daughter likes that little Aquarium. There is a definite energy difference at BATB, but when Barefoot is busy, it can be fun as well.

We always had to spend at least one evening at Barefoot Landing.... usually after a stop at House of Blues. So glad to hear that The General Store is open. We always had to stop there for a bottle of pop.
