Hi All,

Not sure if I should have posted this here or on the restaurants section......

We will be heading down to the Beach in early August.

I previously asked this question about BATB and now we are curious about BL.

Our group was wondering if you could pick only 1 restaurant at BL to dine at - your favourite one, which one would it be and why?

Thanks! :sunny:

PS - I love it when the ticker goes from counting months to only days until our vacation!! :nanner:

We've always had fun at Dick's Last Resort, but since our kids love wings, it would have to be Wild Wing Cafe. We have other chains in our hometown (BW3, etc), but not a Wild Wing. We think their flavors are fantastic.

Greg Norman's for lunch, great looking place with a view serving some super food. Prices are reasonable for lunch, dinner is fab also, but the prices go up quite a bit.

One of my favorite places along the Strand is close to there, just north in the Bi-lo shopping center, Empire Fire.

My choice would be Flying Fish. Love their shrimp & grits!

We're fond of WIld Wing Cafe. Been dying to try Bully's though. T-Bonz is tasty for lunch. We're not fans of their steak but their She-crab soup is the best I've ever had.

Well back in the day it would have been Knickerbocker.

I have only ever been to River City Cafe there and it is a very nice location to be able to watch the inter coaster waterway from there. I have heard Flying Fish is really good it is on my list even if its just to go to their market.

I was wondering, is Dick's Last Resort or Dirty Dick's that I heard makes fun of people and stuff like that? I've never been to either one but my mom and aunt say they won't go to whatever one it is so I don't even take the chance and go so I won't go to the wrong one. Or is it a different place that does that?

I have to chime in here, even though I have not been to Dick's Last Resort in 4 years, (I only go where I get a discount or am comped, like tomorrow at Rioz) I have never had bad food there, I usually ordered the cat fish or rib bucket, nor has anyone I have ever gone with complained.

When they run a help wanted ad in the paper, it asks for rude and not to bright people, it's their shtick, at all their locations across the Country.

They make these very large paper hats and write sayings on them that may have innuendos which you may pick up on.

They have/had a black board and that they use for "mullet" sightings, not the fish.

It is a fun place and when my kids were young enjoyed going there.

I wish they would offer a discount so I can go back there :)

Back when I was doing secret shopping (I seldom do them anymore because the pay doesn't make them worthwhile) I did two secret shops at Dick's Last Resort. The first visit was just the two of us. They did not make the paper cone hats for us, nor did they talk to us much. The food was mediocre.

The second time we went with another couple and had a good time...cone hats and lots of interaction with staff members. I observed that at tables where there were small children the staff kept the jokes cleaner. The food was mediocre.

Wild Wing Cafe or River City. If you have never been to Dick's though, it is worth at least one visit. If and only if, you have a good sense of humor and do not mind a few crude jokes or sayings.
