My brother drove my parents down for a visit for the long weekend! My dad has not been well so they can't come every couple of months anymore and I hadn't seen them since I went to Kentucky in July ...so I was pretty excited.
Hotel:
They stayed at Ocean Ones ...since no one wants to stay at my house since it is now occupied by a baby..lol. John Blue stayed with them the whole time and John, the baby, and I just went back and forth.
The hotel was super clean and well maintained. I hadn't been in there since we stayed there during our house hunt almost SIX YEARS ago,but it still looked great. They stayed it one of the end rooms that has the blvd view and the ocean view. Everyone enjoyed the indoor pools and hot tubs.
Food:
Night one was Capt Dave's Dockside. It was fabulous. I had a medium steak that was to die for, John had the pan fried grouper, John Blue had the creek shrimp, brother had the mixed grill(shrimp, flounder, scallops) , dad had the fried oysters, and mom had scallops. Everything was beyond perfect.
Night two was Wahoos. Great meal and friendly service. I had the special of triggerfish baked with crab and béarnaise, John had the blacken Mahi, John blue had shrimp, brother had blackened triggerfish, mom had a scallop dish with awesome spicy greens, dad had oysters. We also had two orders of spicy crab sushi.
Sunday morning was brunch at Sea Captains House. Everyone had the Buffett except me (crab cake Benedict ) and brother (seafarer omelet ) . Very nice food with eeehhh service.
Night three was back to capt Dave's Dockside after the Broncos win! :cheerleader:
Tonight we started with some bacon wrapped shrimp and fought the baby for some hush puppies !
Brother and I both had the mixed grill (grilled scallops, Mahi, shrimp), John and mom had a combo platters, John Blue had the steak, and dad had...wait for it...oysters! We had the lovely Sherri as a server and it was during the buy one meal get one meal promo ...so we got three meals FREE. Now that's a deal!

Laura, it's great to see you back on the board again. I know life gets hectic (especially with the baby) but I appreciate you taking the time to write a review from a local's point of view. Thanks so much for taking the time to post!

I guess it didn't hurt feelings that you only had to drive to the hotel from Murrel's Inlet instead of the long drive from Somerset (know you are originally from somewhere in that area). As a local you probably do not venture out to all the "tourist" spots that often. Nice to get some off season reviews of some familiar places.
