What a great trip report. The ladies in your life are very fortunate to have you. It appears as if your main concern is making them happy not yourself. You have such a nice writing style it is almost as if we are tagging along for the ride. We have the same problem here in the Pigeon Forge, TN area of people (mainly "ladies") hitting you up for gas money. For awhile it was always $3.00 they were asking for. We lived in Charleston for a year back in the 80's. It is a lovely city. Thanks again for taking the time to write such a detailed report. Enjoyed seeing the photos also.

Judy:

Thank you for the compliment. My ladies do take good care of me, too. Believe me.

The "I forgot my purse/wallet" trick was used on me a few times when I worked in Boston. I did fall for it once, when a young college-aged guy told me that he needed money right away to catch a bus to see his sick mother. He was a real good actor and I did give him $5.

As I wrote, we really liked Charleston, although I have heard from people who lived in the area that it's not all old, beautiful homes and Southern charm (I can attest to the same thing having lived in suburban Atlanta). By the way, we used to go to Pigeon Forge years ago. We really enjoyed it in the fall especially. Someday, if I play my cards right, I hope I can take the place of the old soap maker gal at Dollywood. . .

Take good care.

I loved your trip report, Frank, and the photos really added to it!

So glad you get to Charleston! We do many day trips there, sometimes we spend a night, and sometimes a Charleston trip is my excuse to load up a shopping cart at Trader Joe's. My only disappointment in Charleston EVER was the "Aquarium of South Carolina." In my opinion, we have a better aquarium right here in MB.

Thanks for all the details you included. It made me feel like I was following you around. I know it's very time-consuming to write a trip report like this, and we all appreciate it! THANK YOU! :notworthy:

Thanks, Patrish.

We truly did enjoy our day trip to Charleston. We will definitely return.

It was my pleasure doing the report. I am sure that there were some typos and grammatical errors, but I hoped I captured what happened during our 2013 stay and people enjoyed the report.

May you and Wally take care.

Hopefully, we will "meet-up" next year!

Wonderful report. When you mentioned your wife made friends with a lady while vacationing I remember the time my husband and I vacationed in Myrtle Beach and it was our 25th anniversary. I met a lady she was nice and I spent the majority of the day talking with her while in the ocean or sitting on our chairs by the water.

My husband reminds me jokingly how I spent the anniversary day with another woman.

Thanks for writing.

Thanks, Cathy.

That was a funny posting. I am usually reading or playing in the surf, so my wife finds someone else to talk to.

Belated congratulations on your anniversary.

Take good care.

Thanks, Deanna.

I enjoy writing about our times in MB. I am glad you enjoyed the report. From what I can tell, these reports had more followers years ago (I had 2156 readers in 2011; 1878 in 2010 and 2531 in 2009). So I am glad that people like you are still spending the time to visit and enjoy the MBMB.

Wish you the best.

Take good care.

Thanks again, love the story about the pan-handler.... reminded me of a January trip many years back.

Unloading the car, a woman approached me for a "ride home", which was only a mile down the road "behind the bagel store". I politely declined, but she continued... she knew the owner of the bagel shop and I could have as many bagels as I wanted !

Wow.... paid in bagels.... a surreal moment.
