We left Loudon Tennessee this morning around 10am. We stopped in Knoxville at Einstein's Bagels for a snack to get us to lunch. The weather was beautiful and the drive through the mountains was gorgeous. We stopped in Bat Cave, North Carolina for lunch at Chick-fil-a. Back on the road and didn't stop again till we got to Florence, SC. We checked into the Baymont around 4pm. We made it all the way from Knoxville on a little less than a full tank of gas. After we got settled in we went out and got gas ($3.53 per gallon) and then went to dinner at Fatz Cafe. We have seen these places on the way down before but never tried it. The food and service was good. Back to the hotel to watch the Tennessee Florida game. Good thing I am going to the beach in the morning to take my mind off the loss.Going to bed now. Hopefully I will be able to continue my report once we get to Cherry Grove.

Enjoy your trip. Good to see that you have made it over 3/4 of the way down. Hopefully lots of sunshine for you guys this coming week. Getting to Florence is when the excitement really starts to happen. All of the interstate driving is out of the way and it is a straight shot to MB.

We left Florence around 10am this morning after eating the hotel breakfast (not good but saves time and money). We arrived in Cherry Grove around noon. Our room wasn't ready so we parked grabbed our beach chairs and headed down to the beach. We walked on the beach for an hour and then came back to our chairs and just relaxed and soaked up the sun. Our room was ready around 2pm. We got checked in and checked everything out, then went back to the beach. We are getting ready to go out and get some groceries and figure out what we want to eat for dinner. We have a family tradition of going to Ultimate California Pizza our first night, but without Nich or Zach being with us we might get pizza at Basils tonight. The Titans game isn't on here so I guess I will have to watch the Jets/Steelers game until Lorraine is ready to go. So Go Jets! No I am not a Jets fan, I just hate the Steelers. Sorry Rich.

This is going to be a long week. So many of you down there at once just rubbing it in how much fun you're having. Oh well...Two more weeks we should be at Basil's while you're back to work.......
Is that a one bedroom at the Towers? Pics on Facebook looked like oceanfront. When I looked there to use our points all I saw was street side. I need to give Wyndham a call and bank points for nest year.

Alan, It is Ocean front. We are very happy with everything. You can find the pictures that I post on facebook here http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1803811814329.2108140.1210865964&type=3 Lorraine is posting pictures on facebook also. You can search for her under Lorraine LaRue Bennett.

We went to Basil's tonight for pizza. It was as good as Alan says it is. The crust is what makes it great. It is a super thin crust with just the right amount of crunch and chew. Great flavors with lots of toppings to choose from. They don't smother it with cheese so you get that authentic Italian style pie.

We went next door to Boulineau's and looked around the store and gift shop. Lorraine decided we needed to go to Wal Mart for groceries and the other things we needed for the week. Wal Mart wasn't bad and I'm sure it saved us a few bucks.

In for the night to relax and watch some football. The past two days have been great except the football that has been attempted to be played by my teams.

We got up early today around 7am. It was a beautiful morning in Myrtle Beach. We went to the gym hear at Towers on the Grove. It is on the 20th floor and has some great views of North Myrtle Beach. We hit chest shoulders and triceps and then went for a long walk up past Cherry Grove Pier and back. We had some breakfast and then got ready for our day at the beach and pools.

We spent the first half of the day at the pools and lazy riverhttp://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=4694089109455&set=a.1803811814329.2108140.1210865964&type=1&theater

We went up for lunch and then spent the rest of the afternoon at the beachhttp://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=4695023932825&set=a.1803811814329.2108140.1210865964&type=1&theater&notif_t=photo_comment

We just got in and are getting ready to go out. I think we are going to Duffy's tonight. It has been a beautiful day here. They are calling for rain tomorrow, but who cares..right.

Duffy Street Seafood Shack was great. I posted a picture in the restaurant thread. After dinner we walked around Main Street in the Ocean Drive section of North Myrtle Beach. They are having a shaggin festival called SOS 2012. It was pretty fun watching them dance http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151414268233222&set=at.10151414265948222.583488.569123221.1210865964&type=1&theater

Lorraine said it was like Spring Break for old people http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151414268233222&set=at.10151414265948222.583488.569123221.1210865964&type=1&theater

Later we took a drive down 17 and got some ice cream at Painter's. Good, but not as good as Kirk's http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151414268328222&set=at.10151414265948222.583488.569123221.1210865964&type=1&theater

We stopped at one of the beach stores and got Bocce Ball set. I have been watching a family play this game for the past 2 days. Now I just gotta get Lorraine to play with me.

Check out my facebook for a ton of pictures we took at the beach today and a few of me and Lorraine.http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151414267963222&set=a.10151414265948222.583488.569123221&type=3&theater

We saw a group playing bocce on the beach and I wished we had brought our set with us!!

My daughter came home from school yesterday and guess what they did in gym? Yep, Bocce!!! I think she was the only kid who knew what it was. My grandparents even had a bocce court in their back yard until a few years ago.

We really enjoyed Bocce Ball while there this year. It was definitely a highlight on the beach for our family, and perhaps some of us are a little competitive...

I'd love to see your pics but the links aren't working for me. Not your problem, just enjoy your vacation!
