We had a fantastic time! I was too busy during the week to do a live report so I will type a little at a time.

Friday June 22

We pulled out at 9 AM after the morning rush hour. The trip was smooth sailing until we hit 95 in Virginia. We were supposed to drive to Emporia but stopped in Dumfries because it took 2 hours to drive 11 miles!!! That part was awful!

The boys were thrilled when we got to the hotel at 4PM and they could run around the hotel. We ordered Cracker Barrel and ate in the room.



Saturday June 23

We left at 7 AM. Didn't want to chance hitting 95 too late. Traffic was fine all day and we pulled into the Sheraton at 3PM. Our rom was actually ready early this year! we got checked in and unloaded then went to BATB and ate at Joe's Crab Shack for dinner. Bryan got the fisherman's platter and i had fish and chips. The boys split a popcorn shrimp kids meal. The total with a 20% tip was $55.

Usually when we arrive after a full day of driving and getting up at 2AM we order pizza and crash in the room, so it was nice to be able to go out the first day. The boys wanted a bath in the whirlpool tub so we let them play and then off to bed. I got the condo set up for the week. (I alway re-arrange furniture and the kitchen to make it work more smoothly for us.).

We have decided next year for Bryan to take a half day Friday and only drive to Arlington, VA and stay at the Sheraton there and not even try to tackle 95 until early on Saturday. We will save aggravation and can use points to stay instead of paying through the nose for the Hampton Inn. It was worth it to get out of that horrible traffic though.

Great start to the report, looking forward to the next installments !

Next time you cruise through Baltimore/DC on a summer Friday afternoon (always heavy 95 traffic), consider taking Rte 301 from Maryland into VA. Lots of lights and suburbia sprawl, but shorter distance. Takes about 30 mins longer than 95-with-no-traffic, but is consistent regardless of the time of day.

Sorry for the delay! We have had VBS this week and I am exhausted! Nap time for the boys has also been nap time for me this week.

Sunday June 24

Pool day! The boys have been itching to go to the watermark at the resort so we spent the day there. Lunch was sandwiches at the pool even so they didn't miss too much time swimming. It was so neat to see both boys enjoying the waters.idesthis year. The little guy is 2 and 2 months now and he had a BLAST!

Both boys knocked out for nap, so Bryan stayed with the and I got to lay out by the pool BY MYSELF! After nap was dinner at River City Cafe and then we walked around Barefoot Landing. I like the RCC location at Barefoot much better than 21st Ave. it is much les crowded and it was nice to walk around and shop afterwards.

Ugh, the little guy is crying so I'll be back a little later for the other days.
