This is the trip that almost wasn't. We had reserved a condo in January at Breakers, the same one we stayed at last year. It was beautiful. On the end, floor to ceiling windows, striking views of the city and beach all in one. We called a little less than 2 weeks ago to just double check that all was set for our arrival. We were told our condo had gone into foreclosure, and although we could still rent it, there was no tv. Our almost 3 year old granddaughter would not have survived. And honestly, neither would my die-hard Detroit Tigers fans with whom I am travelling. There was also the thought that if the cable tv was no longer working, would the electricity be next? So I spent a whole Sunday, literally, sending out inquiries to private owners on VRBO.com. A lovely lady names Martha saved our vacation. We sent back and forth no less than 20 e-mails that day, and long-story-short, here we are. I need to give this woman a shout out (hopefully ok with you Patrish). The vrbo listing number is 146341, and I sure hope you give some consideration to staying here. This is why......
Aside from the best and most attentive rental process EVER, this place is gorgeous! We have never stayed in a cleaner, more beautiful, better equipped unit than this. It is 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms(!!)on the ocean. There is an attached garage, and we pretty much walk out of our car, in through a security door, and into our condo. Perfect. We are on the 3rd floor, and while I wasn't sure I'd like being on a lower floor, we love it. Again, perfect. There is an onsight convenience store, as well as a restaurant/diner. A 16 inch pizza delivered to your door is just under $12! They also have all kinds of sandwiches and sides. Perfect for those days we won't feel like cooking.
Arrived yesterday, unpacked, made our trek to Wal-Mart and Costco. Then went to the pools. They have 4, two adult and 2 for the kids, plus a lazy river. The lazy river, and one each of the kiddie and adult pools are heated. Really heated, not just advertised as so. Yep, we've stayed in those places. Went to the beach, which our precious Bailey seems to love this year. We cooked a Costco pizza, took showers, and watched the Detroit Tigers advance. Perfect!Sorry Yankee fans. No, not really. Ok, maybe.
Seems like a lot more people here in Myrtle Beach than in past years, but we are a week earlier than usual, so maybe that is it. Or maybe it's because we are in a totally different area. I don't know, I don't care, I just know that we made it when we didn't think we would. Perfect.
I'm watching the skies lighten, planning my very first birthday "day" in Myrtle Beach. Maybe the State Park, Bailey will love it. Or Springmaid Pier. Also thinking about the Nacho Hippo for lunch or dinner. Haven't seen that place written about here...anybody have first-hand knowledge? Looks like fun. Anyway, happy birthday to me on a most perfect day in a most perfect place in a most perfect city. I promise not to use "perfect" so much in my next installments.
Thanks for reading. **EDIT** Just found your write-up, Patrish, for the Nacho Hippo. Will definitely be there today.
