Vacation is finally here! I thought I'd start my trip report this evening. The car is loaded and I'm getting ready to hit the sack. We're leaving Friday at 7am. Going on this trip is me (Beth), my son Austin/18, his friend Nick/17, and my daughter Caroline/7. We're leaving from Kalamazoo, MI and staying in Beckley, WV on Friday night.

Here's to a safe trip! I'll update again on Friday or Saturday.

Travel safe and enjoy the trip down to the beach....

Day 1 of travel went really well. We left at 7am from Kalamazoo and we made such good time we decided to change our Beckley reservation to Greensboro. A little longer than I normally like to drive on day 1, it was 12 hours. But we were going to get into Beckley at 5 and that just seemed too early to stop. So, we got to Greensboro at 9 after stopping for dinner.

Trabba, last year we stayed at Country Inn & Suites in Beckley. I think we paid around $113. It was nice, clean and had an awesome indoor/outdoor pool. This year we were going to stay at Quality Inn before we changed plans. That rate was going to be $77. It had mixed reviews on Trip Advisor but I feel like people are overly pickey on that site sometimes.

In Greensboro, we're staying at Comfort Inn. At $63, I was a little leary making a phone reservation but it's actually quite nice! I would stay here again.

We made our annual trip to White Castle for lunch today. We don't have one nearby where we live, so it's always a staple stop when we go through Akron. I've found that people either love White Castle or hate it.

Also, coming through OH and West Virginia we saw about 40 eagles or hawks. They were pretty high up, I'm not sure which they were. But it was cool watching them.

Long day! Trying to get on the road at 7am again tomorrow to get into MB early, maybe we can miss some of the trafic by arriving earleir. Maybe. I'm not too hopeful...
