I'm enjoying your "live" report. I never really thought about walking through the residental area. I think I will give that a whirl this trip.

JoAnn, I also enjoy walking around the neighborhoods in Surfside. Of course, I love walking on the beach. We have dealt with Old Colony Realty the past three years. They are located very near the pier area. It is a small company but they have always gone out of their way to make sure things are right for us. Hope you are having a great time.

Today I got an early start to my walk...walked for 2 hours...it was hot but not unbearably so...back to the condo...ate some breakfast and back to the beach...same old routine,,,water...umbrella...walk beach...repeat all day...went back about 5pm...cooled off...got ready and went to the Dead Dog Saloon...very enjoyable...Katie had shrimp...I had crab cakes...really yummy...about $30 before tip for each of us...and we each had a drink...back to the condo...we are such lazy bums...and we like it  we are saving our shopping for Friday because it is tax free weekend...plan to visit ALOT of places...

Judy...thanks for the info about Old Colony...as i have been walking I have noticed their signs on several nice properties...
kytraveller...I think it is a nice change to a beach walk...but i do love my beach walks, too!

Total beach bums just checkin in...we have had such nice weather this week...hot but sunny...nice change from all the rain we have had in Ohio...last night Katie and I walked up to River City Cafe...burgers and onion rings...great as usual...sat outside...it was really windy...but not too hot about 7:30 pm...we only waited about 5 minutes...today more beach time...tonight ice cream...not sure if we will walk to Sophia's or to the one on the pier...both are good...tomorrow is the designated day for shopping :ac15[1]:

then...boo hoo packing up tomorrow evening and headed out Sat morning...probably stopping at Omega in Surfside for breakfast...then to start planning for next year...

Writing tonight from Rockingham, NC...We got up early this morning to warm temps and gray skies...but...we had planned to shop anyway...started out with a trip to the Lazy Gator in Murrell's...we liked it ...they had alot of great things...made several purchases...when we paid we got a 20% of coupon...good one day only for a t-shirt...soooo of course...I went back in an bought a t-shirt...onward to Coastal Grand...Katie and I went our separate ways...I got some things at DressBarn for school...love that store...found out they have Teacher shopping "parties"...let them know when...they set up the time...have snacks...you get 25% off what you buy and your friends get 15% off...we have a DressBarn at the mall in Parkersburg, WV...so I am anxious to see if they do this...then I saw the chocolate store...yum...had to get a few things there...met up with Katie...were going to get a bite @ Chik filet but the line was long...got pretzels @ Aunt Annie's instead...walked around some more...getting really crowded...so we decided to go...still cloudy outside and stormy...we decided might as well see if we could get a room in Rockingham for this evening...we got a room at the Holiday Inn Express so we went back to the condo... packed... loaded up...dropped the keys off...thanked the company again for changing our unit and refunding part of our $$$...then we went to another realty office to check on some places for next year...no decisions made yet...so we left Surfside around 5pm...got our chik filet fix...and were on the road...wow...sky is really getting black...somewhere between Surfside and Conway...the skies opened up...it poured...such hard rain...we pulled off the road for a while...lots of lightning...rained on and off all the way to Rockingham...got here about 8pm...we are checked in...now after a shaky start...now eating wings and pizza...and about ready to call it a night...should be on the road early tomorrow...Katie will have about 2 hours more to drive to Columbus...after she picks up her dog Spike(who has been vacationing at our house with my husband, son and his family)...it turned out to be a good week in Surfside...we did very little but thoroughly enjoyed every minute...Katie has been away from home for several years...this was the most time we have been able to spend together for a long time...it was great

JoAnn, thanks so much for writing this trip review. Glad the condo worked out to your satisfaction, and that you and Katie enjoyed the beach. So nice that you could spend the time together without having appointments or schedules. Had to smile about Lazy Gator in Murrells Inlet. It's a HUGE store, and I seldom leave without a purchase of something I didn't really need. Thanks again for the trip report!
