We recently returned from a week at the Landmark Resort. Let me preface my comments with this... we were in town for a week of High School Baseball during Spring Break. This was not our "big" summer vacation, and since we ARE coming back in August for our "big" summer vacation, this was an economy trip. Thus, my expectations were not the same for this trip as they would be for an expensive summer trip.

I chose the Landmark Resort because of the indoor pools and the price. I got an Ocean View room for $52 per night (which I thought was great, considering that it is nearly triple that price in the summer). Since we were there in March, it was important to me that we have plenty of indoor pool area. The Landmark has about 5 or 6 indoor hottubs, a large indoor pool, two kiddie areas with raintrees, and a long 300 foot indoor lazy river. They also had an outdoor pool, hottub, and lazy river, but it was too cold to get in them.

The location was nice. We've stayed in that area before, and felt safe. During the summer, that area is frequented by heavy traffic and loud noises (thumpa-thumpa from the car stereos, along with gunning engines and screeching tires all night). Fortunately, we had NONE of that for this visit... but it was spring, not summer.

The waterpark (located outside, across the street from the hotel) was closed for Winter. But, the miniature golf area was open. It was very nice, and I can imagine that it would be fun during the summer. The Landmark has a large parking garage, with a covered walkway over it.

The rooms were clean, and the staff was pleasant. The only complaint we have is with the "deposit." I made reservations on-line with a credit card, and paid the balance in cash when we checked-in. The attendant insisted that we put down a $100 security deposit for "room damage." I'm 45 years old, was with my wife, mother-in-law, and 10 year old daughter. It wasn't like we were a bunch of rowdy teenagers!

Anyway, we gave them the $100 cash. But they were adamant that they would prefer a credit card. They kept telling me that I could keep the cash if I just gave them a credit card. When we checked out, my wife had to wait nearly 30 minutes to receive our $100 deposit back, as they had to send someone to inspect the room. In the meantime, another family staying there informed us that they had their credit card charged 3 times for the $100 deposit. I'm certainly glad that we didn't use a credit card.

Long-story-short: We had a great time, and we enjoyed the Landmark. The indoor pool area was awesome, and was everything that I expected. The minor hassle with the deposit was more insulting than a true hassle. I would gladly stay there again during the fall/ winter/ spring. I would not consider staying there in the summer, as the area is just too crowded and loud for my family during the summer. But I would recommend this resort to a family visiting the area.

I hope you don't mind, but I wanted to move this post to the Trip Reports. It's very informative, and I don't want anyone to miss it if they're looking for a report on this resort.

I heard many years ago that Landmark had the largest pool in Myrtle Beach. That was awhile back, so I don't know if it's still true or not.

The policy of asking for your credit card just doesn't make sense to me. But then, I feel that way about a lot of policies, LOL!

Thanks so much for taking the time to share your experience with us!
