Looks like they just couldn't generate enough revenue... Same story, too seasonal and too small of a market.

Too expensive, I think, too. I'm not a coffee drinker, but when in a couple times to find gifts for a friend and we all walked out empty handed each time.

From the Myrtle Beach Restaurant News website...

http://www.myrtlebeachrestaurantnews.com/myrtlebeachrestaurantnewsarticles/food-bytes/3649-kiss-coffeehouse-closing-in-myrtle-beach.html

We have passed it many times, but since we are not coffee drinkers, we never went inside. Might venture in to get a memento if they are still open and have anything left when we are down in Sept.

Emmy,

I guess great minds are thinking alike! I just posted this, too, but in the Broadway at the Beach section! Patrish, Ron & Melissa, if you feel this is duplicate posting, just delete mine!

We went once - the year they first opened. Their drinks were way higher than even Starbucks and really not that good.

Bummer! I loved their Frozen Fruit Lemonade. I thought their prices were on par with what others charge for their fruit drinks. Guess I might be out of touch when it comes to the prices of these types of drinks. Cause honestly I just do them on vacation. We do have a Dairy Queen but I find that expensive. I'm not a starbucks gal, so I will have to find some place else to get a refreshing drink at BATB.

P.S. I'll leave it up to Patrish on if the threads should be merged. :dontknow:

They had other drinks besides just coffee ones, guess they should have marketed that more. I believe they also started going appetizers in the evening a year or two ago. Thought that was odd thing at night.

Business was slow in October already. Can't imagine what it was like in say January. It was fun to go in and grab a cool drink. Enjoy the air-conditioning and people watch. I'll miss it. :sunny:

Incomes not growing for most people. Food, medical and utilities increasing. Have to make choices on what is important. An expensive cup of coffee that you can buy for 1/3 of the price elsewhere, or food and shelter. I would say all theme based venues are hurting for the most part. People dont have the disposable income that they had ten years ago, so they make smarter choices.

Melissa, I have no idea how to "merge." Isn't this why I pay you the big bucks? Maybe I need to double your salary! :clown:

As far as KISS, I remember back when they opened the BAB location. At the same time, they introduced a new cologne at Belk's. Gene Simmons and (I think) Paul Stanley were at Coastal Grand Mall and the line stretched from Dillard's to Belk's. I just happened to be in the mall that day and had to ask someone what the commotion was all about.

But I wonder now if KISS isn't old hat. I'll bet the younger generation never heard of them, and as far as I know they have not made another appearance to promote the coffee shop in MB.

Ok I'll merge the threads Patrish. :ninja:

Wow that is one long line! I can't imagine standing in it. :tongue3:

Kiss itself might be old hat. Old hat that isn't into paying that $$$ for those drinks. Honestly if I wasn't on vacation, but lived down there it would probably a monthly thing for me. I didn't know of Gene Simmons or Kiss really besides the tongue thing and I want to Rock all Night song, until 2006 with his Reality show Gene Simmons Family Jewels and his Indycar deal. Thats what got me in the door but the Lemonade Frozen Smoothie kept me coming back. I am a sucker for anything with lemons.

I think your right Patrish. They only came to the shop once. It sounds like the shop changed ownership along the way. It was opened by a Kiss fan originally. Maybe thats why they never came back. They were just lending their name (for a price) and had no involvement anymore.

I admit to being an old rocker, and have seen Kiss a few times (the first in 1976). However, I wouldn't EVER want to smell like Gene Simmons!

Sorry the coffee house closed, but I've not seen many storefronts remain empty at Broadway at the Beach for very long. So, I'm sure they (B & C) already have someone lined up to take the spot.

Kiss is open. I was at BAB yesterday, and the place was jumping with a constant flow of traffic and people sitting at small tables on the sidewalk. No idea what is going on...maybe a re-opening event. I didn't go inside, but stopped long enough to take this photo of their sign.
