How would go about getting to the MB Barrier Islands in the early AM for shelling? Any recommedned ferry/boats? Thinking of doing a bit more advanced shelling this year and would prefer to go armed with knowledge then spend the time during my vacation researching.

Thanks

Pawleys Island is considered a barrier island. I've found some nice shells there from time to time.

More barrier islands are located around the Charleston, SC area:

I've heard an excellent place for shelling is Cape Romain which consists of 4 barrier islands, including Bulls Island

If you want to head north, you can do a day trip to Bald Head Island, Go to Southport, then take the ferry to the island.

Pictures from a few days we spent there (I picked up a couple lovely shells)

Hope this helps!
