am going to North Myrtle Beach the week of Sept 20 - Sept 27... it is us and our two young girls... we also are taking her adult sister and husband with us... the question is this... would we be allowed to put up a four corner anchored cover.... like a tent with no sides... so we all could enjoy a little shade together.... provided we took it down before we left the beach each day.... would something like that be allowed or would we need to put up seprate umbrella's (approx 4 of them) in a row or cluster instead??? thanks for your info.....

happy MB memories

You can use it as long as it is behind the life gaurd stand and the chairs that the rent along the beach.

I believe I've seen these sort of "tents" on the beach before. Hopefully one of the experts can jump in and confirm that they are allowed.

I do know that any type of umbrella or tent must be set up behind the lifeguard-rented umbrellas on the beach.

ETA- Sorry, I was typing as one of those experts was weighing in!!!

Last year there were families that left them up all week long. How do I know that??? Because I looked at "Ohio State" all week. Sorry Brett....

I have set our canopy up a couple of times when we were staying in NMB and I leave it up all week.I have had no problems but I always place it back as far as I can get it.

They follow the rules with chairs, umbrellas, canopies, etc etc...as last year when we rented 2 chairs/w/umbrella from lifeguard...we watched daily as a party erected their canopy early early morning...before lifeguards were probably out of bed. When lifeguard put up rented chairs/umbrellas...he had to put up a few then go to other side of canopy that had been erected and put up rest of rented chairs/umbrellas. Never, did I see anyone make them move behind....they were not in front...but they were right beside!!
