...like a 21-year-old from Kentucky did at my parent's office in Garden City Sunday night!

Betsy - sorry to hear this was your folks' place of business.

When I saw that report in the media, it reminded me of all the stuff I faced for years before retiring as a public safety officer. It particularly "hits home" when it affects people I know and/or their families.

I hope your family gets all restored back to normal at a minimum of inconvenience - and that justice is properly served in this matter.

Betsy, it's so fortunate no one was injured.

For anyone who's interested, here's the story as it appeared in The Sun News.

Guess it will be awhile before this idiot updates his My Space page! LOL!

Gavin Gregory Wells, who was in Garden City Beach on vacation, is charged with second-degree arson. He posted $20,000 bail and was released from J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

Mike, isn't that bail extremely low for a young non-resident charged with such a serious crime?

Awww, Betsy, I'm so sorry about this event. Like Patrish said, fortunately, no one was injured.

Some people just don't have a clue. It sickens me. Give my best to your parents!

Your poor folks, what an awful inconvenience thrust upon them. Thankfully, nobody was there and hurt, but what mess to clean up. Even smoke and water is bad enough. What a knucklehead. Is that your mom in the pix? Her hands are black with soot. She must be exhausted. A dumb kid too drunk to be able to use the sense God gave to a goose and goes does something like this while on vacation. Unfathomable. I feel bad when I eat too much on vacation!

I'd say so. I'm not familiar with this case in any other way - but, usually, such a circumstance is accompanied by some other factors (credible promises, conditions, etc) as well that are not necessarily published.

NOTE: Sorry for the posting/response delay - I'd composed the above at about 6AM this morning, got sidetracked, and just now remembered it was waiting to post...

Yup! That was Mom cleaning up. She said the picture of her hands was on the cover of the Local section of the Sun News on Tuesday.

Betsy,
I am so sorry to hear about this. Our thoughts go out to your folks.

It's unbelievable that this moron coould get this drunk and do something like that.My question is this....if people saw this %&&*#@^ throwing furniture into the water, why weren't the police called at that point? And if people saw him pouring gas,why wasn't something said before he lit the match? It doesn't really explain the time frame of events.

Again,I'm sorry for what happened and I hope everything works out for your parents.

Ron

Wow - so sorry for your parents. Wish there was something we could all do to help.

Just never understand what "clicks" in people's heads which causes them to perform random acts of violence. :BandHead:
