We have taken a 6 night summer trip no matter what over the years to MB. I the past, we have ended up at MB 1-3 weekends in the off season for weekend getaways. We have never really ventured off to far until recently.

All of that has been pretty much cut out the last 4 years and we have been taking cruises! We have fell in love with them. I'm trying to convince the family to take a trip to MB in late September/Early October for 3 or 4 nights instead of the summer trip and go on a bigger cruise.

We went to Las Vegas this past December. Next on the list is to visit New York and take a trip to Nashville, TN. I would to visit the Grand Ole Opry!

Every couple of months Barb and I will get in on a deal for a night or 2 and stay in Niagara Falls. Might only be a night but we have so much fun it feels like a mini vacation. The deals will have the room over looking the falls, a discount for dinner and depending which hotel, a free breakfast buffet. They'll also throw in a credit for the slots at the Casino.

Speaking of which, we're due to go again ;)

We usually do at least one long weekend a year in Gatlinburg. We stay in a very nice townhouse (babbling brook right outside our balcony window) within easy walking distance of The Village, our favorite spot to shop, eat, and people watch. We will walk around Gatlinburg some. I do NOT like Pigeon Forge. We spend our entire time in the National Park hiking. Our goal is to hike all 700 miles of trails, as well as hike the entire AT someday. So far, we have about 3 miles of AT, and 20 miles of GSM trails. lol. We'll get more as the kids get older.

My hometown is where Phroggy lives too. We go to Sandusky usually 4 or 5 times a year. My time up there is filled with seeing family and friends though. We're looking into purchasing a boat for the next few summers. We love going to Kelly's Island and Put-in-Bay.

We like taking weekend trips to the Ohio State Parks. We have several lodges within an hour's drive of us. Easy hiking, swimming, fishing... it's always a nice little vacation, and we can get great rates in the off season.

For the first time, this year we went on a second vacation to the White Mountains in NH. My parents have an "old fashioned" timeshare there the third week of July and we stayed with them. It was great because the accommodations were free so we just paid for our gas and tolls to get there and our day in Storyland. The boys are 4 and 6 so they were finally old enough to enjoy the experience and be old enough to go on all the rides. (They needed an adult for a lot of them but were able to ride on everything.). And going with my parents was fantastic. My brother and his family met us at Storyland so the boys spent the day with their cousin (7). It was precious!

We go to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic every May. Next May will be our 5th year going down there. It costs about $1300.00/person for a week at a nice resorts (I usually spend about $100.00 on tips for the week) and that includes airfare, accommodations, food (24hrs/day), drinks (24/hrs/day including adult beverages), and entertainment. We have stayed at 4 different resorts and have really enjoyed all of them. Temperature ranges from 85 F in the daytime and 78 F at night. Beautiful Caribbean beaches, clear water, and you are treated like royalty be the workers at the resorts.

We usually come to Myrtle Beach every year the day after Christmas and leave New Years Day. My favorite time, no crowds and we get to eat at all of our favorite restaurants without a wait. You can still enjoy the ocean views from our balcony and take a walk on the beach (just need a light jacket).

When I'm not vacationing at MB, I go to work, LOL. Right now, we don't care to go any where else. Hopefully we'll be able to make it there again soon.

We plan on doing stuff like this, weekend getaways, once the girls are grown up. Right now, we'll be lucky to get to MB again with the girls.

Wondering, how is humidity in places like this? Other than MB, when the girls are gone, we really want to do this or somewhere in Mexico that is all inclusive.

We spend a lot of time in the Pittsburgh area (we're only 80 miles away). We're HUGE Pirate's fans, so we go to 15-20 baseball games per year, and also one Steeler game per year. We visit Kennywood in the Summer and the Pittsburgh Zoo any time of year. The Strip District, Carnegie Museum of Natural History, National Aviary, Phipps Conservatory, and of course the many great restaurants, concerts, and festivals in the area. Pittsburgh is our second home.

We went to Punta Cana in March this year. Michael, what resorts have you stayed at? We stayed at Majestic Elegance, very nice place.

Ron,

I have stayed at:

Majestic Colonial
Iberostar Punta Cana
Dreams Punta Cana
Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe

Going to stay at Royalton Punta Cana in May of 2015 for 10 nights. Going to go twice in 2016, once for a wedding in February, and again for our regular May trip. Resort TBD. We try to stay at a different resort every time until we find the perfect place to return to. Have not found it yet, but all of them have been good. We love the swim up bars, you never have to leave the pool!

I have enjoyed them all and would return to any of them. We usually stay in the least expensive room the resort has to offer as we only go there to sleep and get ready for activities. We still love to go to Myrtle Beach every year, but we like to go the week after Christmas. No crowds and really relaxing.

We are looking at The grand palladium Resorts and Bahia Principe Esmarelda and/or Ambar for future stays. Mrodgers asked about the humidity. It is usually around 75% RH, but I never noticed it as there is always a slight tropical breeze, lots of shade from the palm trees and palapa huts, and I am always in and out of the water.

Thanks Michael.
I think my parents are staying at Paradisus next year? I wasn't invited to come along with them, so I can't remember if that is where they are staying. I have a few choices to checkout, so we can figure out where we want to go next. I would go back to Majestic, and I'm sure my wife would too.

For Caribbean trips, this is a good site for comparison shopping:

http://www.cheapcaribbean.com/

Jan found a trip last December (before Christmas) to Cancun all-inclusive for $50pp. Insanely cheap in the off-season.

We took a motorcycle trip from ohio to califirnia years ago, and hit the upper states going and the lower ones coming back. Kept a diary. Loved it!! Hopefully, next year we can repeat it again next year with our miata.
