the beach is just sitting there waiting for YOU? I look at the boardwalk webcam every day. The sound of the crashing waves is so melodic. The ocean is forever constant...rolling in rolling out. It will continue to do what is doing in the hopes we will be back soon to sit/walk with it again. I mean I seriously believe this :hello:

What a great idea. Thank you for sharing!

I've probably ask you this before, but where in "Southern" NY are you?

Rick

I'm a huge fan of the Earthcam on the Boardwalk, though not at this time of year. I start watching religiously every morning usually come the next few weeks. It's almost the time of year that I begin to loathe winter and will do anything I can to warm my body with even only visuals rather than turning up the thermostat. I'm particularly fond of the gentleman who runs the backpack style leaf blower at 5:45 on the Boardwalk. I have no idea what his purpose is but I swear I'm going to have that job in my lifetime. Now that my reservation has been made and the deposit check has been cashed, the countdown is even more real and ever welcome.

The beach is not waiting solely for me but rather for those of us who bask in its perfection and appreciate its soothing and beckoning wave of friendliness. The song it sings is not repetitive but instead melodic with its symphony of visual and audible nirvana.

Hey Rick!! I am about 40 miles north of Times Square. We live in the mountains of the Hudson Valley. It's Putnam County. I see you are our western neighbor. Bath is by the Finger Lakes correct?

No matter how many times I have been, seeing the ocean for the first time every summer is one of the highlights of my year. The WOW factor never gets old, whether you are 10 or 40. Nothing like it. Can't wait to warmer weather gets here. It's 62 here today and it just makes for a better day.

Emmy,

I feel the exact same way. I put in one of my trip reports a while back that I took one look at the ocean and thought "I am back, now come and give me a great big hug". Now most probably think that is crazy, but the ocean truly brings out the best in me and I really do long to be there.

Yep, south of Rochester, 30 minutes from PA border.

Yep! I am truly utterly happy when I am at the beach. Usually that first sight of it on the horizon when we are coming in makes my heart beat a little faster! I'm just drawn to it.

Nothing like fishing the surf with the beach to yourself or very few people...one of the most serene feelings in the world! Nothing else exists when you're out there!

Rosie...EarthCam and a lot of other cams be found with one stop on my cam page:

http://www.funbeaches.com/beach_cams-new.html

The cam page is by far the busiest page on all of funbeaches. The best day so far in 2014 was Wed. 2/29 when the page had 4,663 individual visitors. I tried to put a comment box on that page since I spend a lot of time answering e-mails and even talking to people who decide to call. When Mike, Amy and grandson Kenon were here. I asked Mike to take a look. "Oh, no problem," says Mike. HA. He uploaded God knows what-all into the directory and it still doesn't work. He is irritatingly laid back as you can see from the photo of him at my computer! "Leave everything in the Directory. No problem, I'll get it fixed next time we come up." And he probably will!
