I read on another post that Phroggy said "I can't possibly be the only person who craves Nacho Hippo on a daily basis." I thought what a neat idea for a middle of the winter, snow driven, crazy cold thread... Name a restaurant and or specific food that you crave from MB that you really can't get where you are. It's just not the same :tongue3:

For me it's fried chicken!! You CAN NOT get real fried chicken here in lower NY. It's impossible. So my vote goes to either The Shack or Boulineau's for their incredibly crispy fried fowl! How about you??

Just a few off the top of my head:

- Subs from Manny's (Kings Hwy & 17th Ave South, Myrtle Beach).

- The "Chicken Trio" (Bryan, Marsala and Rosa Maria) from Carrabba's Italian Grill (any location; 3 in the Myrtle Beach immediate area).

- Potpie (and the chicken, and anything else  ) at Prosser's BBQ (Murrells Inlet)

- Chicken and Shrimp Fajitas from El Cerro Grande (9 locations on the Grand Strand)

PS: Note that I didn't include a pizza from anywhere. Though there are some that are rather good here around Myrtle Beach, I have yet to find one that can match pizzas that are rather typically delicious like you can find in many areas "up North" and the Great Lakes region. We've HAD a few places like that in the past around Myrtle Beach - Donatelli's, who were here from Pittsburgh for a few years, is a great example - but they've since closed and moved on...

Hello Everyone,
First time posting a reply and since it was about food, how could I not! I like the fried chicken livers from Damon's on South Ocean Boulevard.

What perfect timing for this topic! The friend I usually go on vacation with and I were trying to decide if we wanted to do a week in MB this May or try somewhere new. Then we got talking about all we'd miss if we didn't go to MB and food was a big one!

I am CRAVING Ultimate California Pizza!

And margaritas, chips & salsa and the Pollo Grande from Burro Loco

And the queso from Landshark

And the hushpuppies from CreekRatz

And the peanuts at River City Café

:cheerleader:

Any type of fried seafood at numerous places in MB. I cannot get lightly breaded seafood outside of MB. Places in MB just get it right on the amount of breading that the put on their seafood. Don't know why other places can't get it right, but no place compares to MB.

Well, obviously shrimp. We don't go out to eat very often, nor have anywhere to get good shrimp. Best I could do is the garbage farmed shrimp at Red Lobster and Red Lobster is outragously expensive for garbage.

I eat shrimp for dinner just about every day while in Myrtle. The best of 2 trips going to Myrtle Beach? Not Pawley's Island Tavern, but the little place on the road in front of Pawley's Island Tavern. Island Cafe and Deli Fantastic lightly battered and lightly fried meaty shrimp.

Found it on our first trip first night with dining. We were actually looking for Pawley's Island Tavern, it's a very difficult place to find. Settled on the Island Cafe and Deli and we are glad we did.

This past summer though we didn't eat there. I was touring around all the places from the "where the locals eat" thread that was going on last spring. From now on though, the Island Cafe and Deli is going to be a must have place every time we go.

I second the fried chicken at The Shack but I have to say my favourite is the seafood. Crab legs, shrimp, scallops etc. etc etc. We also love the hush puppies. We don't have them up here in Canada.

Great topis, Emmy! Of course, I crave Nacho Hippo and my family and I discuss in detail what it would be like to just jump on a plane and fly down for dinner. That's all we'd do. Eat at Nacho Hippo then fly home. Expensive dinner but we have to ponder in all seriousness if it would be worth it. I think someday.....

Does a pitcher of pier breezes at Pier 14 while looking at the ocean and beach count as a craving? if yes, consider that mine!
