Nancy Treva Lorman, 56, of North Myrtle Beach and Celia Reynolds Van Valkenburg, 50, of Conway were each charged with fighting, according to North Myrtle Beach Jail Records. The women were each held for a few hours before they were released on bail.
Officers responded to the North Myrtle Beach home of Lorman around 3:45 a.m. in reference to an assault, according to a report from the North Myrtle Beach Police Department. En route, the officers were advised that Lorman was hiding in the backyard from her attacker, but when they arrived at the scene, she was standing in front of her neighbor’s house, bleeding from several abrasions she had suffered in the altercation.
Lorman told police that her friend, Van Valkenburg, had attacked her, causing injuries to several parts of her body, the report said. As she was speaking with officers, Van Valkenburg came outside, carrying her belongings and was getting ready to leave.
Van Valkenburg told police that the two women began to argue, and both got into a physical altercation that caused injuries to both of them, the report said. When officers entered the residence, they found several broken items, including a bird cage that had been smashed, releasing the bird into the house.
Police found a necklace and earring Van Valkenburg said had been pulled off her by Lorman, and they noticed slight abrasions to her neck and arm consistent with her story of where she had been struck, the report said. Van Valkenburg also said Lorman threw her two small dogs at her, both parties had the opportunity to leave the premises, and both of them were involved in mutual combat with each other.
Based on physical evidence at the scene and the injuries to both parties, it was apparent the two individuals were involved in a fight where mutual combat took place, and both were taken into custody for fighting, the report said. During the investigation, Lorman had accused Van Valkenburg of taking her American Airlines Skymiles credit card and her HP laptop computer, which were both located in Van Valkenburg’s possession, but Lorman declined
