We have had to make a change on our trip. We can't make it in July. Nothing serious like last summer but have to postpone. We are thinking of coming in September. Is there any change? Weather? Shops? We know room prices are less!! Thanks in advance for the info!!

If you like the amusements (water parks and other outdoor activities) check the websites before you come so you won't be disappointed if your favorite amusement has closed for the season.

Locals consider September and October to be the Myrtle Beach area's best kept secrets. The temperatures are perfect. We re-claim our beaches. No lines at restaurants. No traffic congestion.

Here's a link to average monthly air an water temps:

The only thing to beware of are hurricanes...and this threat is never to be taken lightly.

Because we had kids in school we never went to MB in September until the kids went off to college. Early Septemer is now our FIRST choice for a beach trip. The water and the weather are both still warm. The crowds and the prices are both lower.

Prior to school age kids we loved September. Hard to believe that in a few years we will be done with school age kids and probably return to September visits. Time flies when your having fun.

We always come the week after labor day and it's awesome!!! No lines, the weather is still HOT, and most things are still open. Last year Family Kingdom was still open when we were there, which it had not been the last few trips! I wouldn't go any other time. It's lovely!!

We've made a couple Sept trips through the years. Great time to go as others have already said.
There is a Fall Bike Week towards the end of Sept if not in Oct. Of the three bike weeks the Fall Rally is the least crowded or noisy.
Last year we were there last week of Sept and going again pretty much the same week this year. Only thing we noticed was it was last week for live outdoor bands at several beach bars. No big deal.

Worst part of Sept trip is it's more depressing heading home than at other times. Leave nice warm beach and by the time you get home you're running the car heater. You know summer is over and the nasty "S" word is just around the corner.

Have only been once in Sept - Labor Day weekend and it was hot, humid, sticky, and crowded! lol

BUT - we go in October, usually the first week or so and haven't ever had problems that time of year! Nice discounts on rooms, the restaurants we go to are all open, BATB and BL are open, water is warm enough and pools are less crowded. Less kids so it's quieter, too!

We like to go that time of year to get one more week of sun before heading home to the cold, bitter snow! lol :sunny:

Great weather and small crowds. By far the best time to visit! There are several local events like the World's Largest Garage Sale, The Atalaya Craft Festival, and the Greek Festival just to name a few. My favorite time of the year to visit.

We're going Sept 21 to the 29th. Been there 2 other times in Sept and it's just like Patrish said, less crowded. Of course, mid September you have shorter days, but we've always had hot weather. Of course, we have no kids in school so that's not a problem. Would like to meet you if you're there when we are.

We are so looking forward to being there in September!! We have 1 month 2 weeks and 1 day before we leave. We have had a mild summer here in KY. Sept. is usually pretty warm too so we hope that it will be there too!! We have had several friends that have gone down already this summer and said most of their days it rained... which its rained a lot here too. School starts back next week, but I don't have to worry about that because I'm just a sub and can work when I want!! lolol
