Not sure where to post this...

Several years ago, Emmy posted about visiting an area called Vereen Memorial Gardens. I've kept that in the back of my mind, and we made a quick visit this year on our way to Calabash. It is located north of Little River, just at the North Carolina border. I don't know how to describe it other than to say it is like a state park with picnic areas, like a botanic garden, and like a boardwalk over the marsh. It's a simply beautiful area, and I'm so glad we visited. Saw many wildlife (especially crabs), enjoyed the deck on the Intracoastal Waterway, and enjoyed just sitting on a swing and taking in the views.

If you are in the area, do yourself a favor and stop by. It's truly a gem!

Beautiful photos! I've never been here before. I'll add it to our list of places to go the next time we're in MB.

So glad you enjoyed it!!! Isn't it wonderful! I have some of my best pictures from there. I looked for my trip report on it but alas it's gone :( :BandHead:

I just put this on my "Big List o' Stuff" in preparation for our upcoming trip. Making a pre-trip list of "possible and probable" adventures helps us make the most of our time.
