We decided this afternoon to head up to Calabash and try The Boundary House. Of course I really had to head that way for this...

I haven't opened my yummy purchase yet but I am sure it will be wonderful. I got in really big trouble taking that pic. I thought the lady was going to take my camera away. Apparently there are no pics allowed in Callahan's. I tried to explain to the lady that it would give them a little pr on the Myrtle Beach message board and she lightened up. All was good after that. She gave me an extra sample :nanner:

Like I said we ate at The Boundary House and we were very pleased.

I think I have heard before on the board that it is alot like Carolina Roadhouse and it is. I did ask the waiter if they were owned by the same company and he assured me they were not. Take a look at the salads. They look almost identical..

And they were delish...

I shared the fried shrimp with my mom and it was very good. Not the best hushpuppies I have ever had, but I ate them

Doug ordered the ribeye and he said it was very good

Overall we really liked The Boundary House. The service was excellent, the atmosphere was enjoyable and the food was good. We would return. Doug and I give it ****

I really didn't know which thread to put this under so if it needs to be moved feel free.

Thanks for this review, Deanna. We often say we are going to stop at Boundary House on our way to or from visiting Wally's brother/wife in Wilmington. Somehow the car just drives itself into Ella's.

I've heard Boundary House is just like Carolina Roadhouse and California Dreaming, but I was still amazed at the similarity in your salad photo. Do they have the same house dressing, too? I wonder if they set out copy the CR/CD menu and if that has anything to do with them not wanting people to take pictures. (This is the first time I've heard of a restaurant where they don't want you to take photos!)

Anyhow, great review...love seeing the pictures you've been taking along with your restaurant reviews!

You know Patrish I was in a Thousand Island mood last night and didn't even check on the house dressing. Sure wish I had because there was alot of similarities between the two restaurants. Doug's ribeye steak last night looked alot like Ryan's the night before at Carolina Roadhouse and the atmosphere on the inside even resembled. Oh well kinda makes me curious.

It was Callahan's that would not let me take the pics. I guess I can understand that. It just took me by surprise. I felt like a kid at school getting in trouble.

We love the Boundary House, and it has enabled us to continue to visit Calabash. Now that we're solidly in our mid-40's, neither my wife or I can eat the fried foods anymore. With "Calabash-style" seafood being fried, it sure makes it hard for us to find anywhere to eat in the town of Calabash, which is a shame because we love visiting so much. Once we discovered the Boundary House, we were saved. Great seafood and steaks, and plenty of non-fried options!
