I love River City Cafe...I especially like to go there on arrival day for lunch while we are waiting for our rooms...this visit we went on our last day in the evening...a Thursday...it was pretty busy but we got in quickly...upstairs where Latitude 22 used to be...I had the Carolina pulled pork...which I always get...they may have changed their recipe...it was still very good but ALOT spicier than I remembered...but still good. Terry some kind of cheesburger which was HUGE and he LOVED...we alos shared a blooming onion...half of which we took home with us...good but huge :)...waitress was super nice and kept us filled with ice tea...

Thanks for the report! We visited the Surfside River City Cafe' on our visit in March and had a wonderful visit. It was too cold and windy for us to sit outside, but we just loved the idea of coming back in the summer and sitting outside with a view of the pier and the ocean!

I have a question: When you're at the River City Cafe in Surfside, can you actually see the ocean?

Absolutely! It is right beside the pier, and you can see the beach, ocean, and pier from just about any seat inside. Outside, you're surrounded by it!

That's right! GREAT VIEWS of the ocean...try to sit outside or along the windows for the best views...but we have had good views even from the middle of the room...going on the pier is nice , as well. Costs $1.00 but it is worth it...we enjoy seeing people fish and what they catch!

River City Cafe is home to the best burger I've ever eaten. I absolutely CANNOT wait to get there on Tuesday so I can sink my teeth into the R.C. Burger. My wife loved the Mahi Mahi sandwich last time, but she keeps having to listen to me tell her the burgers are so good so I'm sure she'll try one this time.

Did your wife have the blackened Mahi Mahi Reuben? It is to DIE for! I'm a Reuben Connoisseur, and that's the best I've ever had! But as you said, their burgers are fantastic. Tough to choose... But I've got nearly 6 months to figure it out. You've only got one more day, so I can certainly see why you're excited. Have a great visit!

If you really want the best burger, check out Becky's review of Greg's Cabana here
http://gregscabanabarandgrill.com/Micro ... review.pdf

Becky Billingsley has been a food writer for over 15 years and is know as "The Restaurant Gal"

River City is good, yet not the best nor the least expensive, it will be interesting
to see what is going to happen as the owner of River City and Divine Dining has just
had an $8.5 Million judgment levied against him

That looks soooo good! I wish all of theses places weren't so far south. We usually stick to the northern end since its closer and the boys go to bed fairly early.

Oh, there's plenty of options for a good burger in the northern end of the Grand Strand!
River City has locations at: 21st Avenue North, 73rd Avenue North, On Shore Drive, just off Restaurant Row, and at Barefoot Landing.
- Johnny Rockets is at Broadway at the Beach
- Peaches Corner and the Oceanfront Grill have great burgers, and are located on 9th street north at the Boardwalk.
- Cheeseburger in Paradise is at 72nd Avenue North
- Sam's Corner is at 77th Avenue North
- Hamburger Joe's at 48th Ave south in North Myrtle

You should be able to find a GREAT burger close to where you're staying!
