We went to Ultimate California Pizza Saturday. I copied this from my trip report.

After five hours on the beach we were getting hungry and Nich suggested Ultimate California Pizza. So we drove the 200 yards one block from Dayton House to the 25th Ave. N. location. We have eaten at Ultimate California Pizza seven times and this is the first time we have ever had a bad experience. About ten minutes after we received our appetizers (fried cheese ravioli and garlic cheese bread) the server informed us that the kitchen had lost our ticket(which in restaurant language means I forgot to put your order in) and it would be ten or so more minutes. It was ok. We are at the beach right? When she brought out our food she had mine and Lorraine's pizza but not Nich's. She finally admitted she forgot to ring Nich's order so Nich got his pizza about 12 minutes later.

The food was great and we still love Ultimate California Pizza and will go back on future trips to the beach. We even gave the server a 20% tip. You never know the circumstances of why they mess up and they depend on tips to pay their bills.

Jeff

Parrothead,

If this was one bad experience in between many good ones that you had in the past, and if it is true that you "love Ultimate California Pizza", I wonder why you felt compelled to describe this incident in such details.

I would think that a forgiving sould would give them a break, and just keep it quiet.

Just my opinion...
Chantal

Chantal, When we post our trip reports and our restaurant reviews here on the message board, we want to give and hear the exact experience that was had. I do love Ultimate California Pizza and it is a tradition for us to eat there when we visit Myrtle Beach, but if I had said in my trip report "we went to Ultimate California and everything was great as usual" it would have been a lie. I don't think anyone on this message board has talked more highly of UCP than me. I think if you read the last two sentences of my review it shows that I am a "forgiving soul".

Tammy, There are several locations along the Grand Strand.

2 Inside the Sand Dunes Resort
3. Inside the Sands Beach Club
4. Barefoot Landing
5. Surfside Beach
6. Garden City/ Murrells Inlet

We enjoyed Ultimate California Pizza 2 times last week. Both times were very enjoyable experiences. We went to the location in Garden City..the one in Surfside had people waiting outside to get in and we had no waiting in Garden City :nanner: . We ordered salads and pizzas. My garden salad was fresh and very good. Hubby and daughter shared a Caesar salad and they said it was very very good. I loved them having a child's menu..saved us some bucks :)
I highly recommend going here...

We went to the Surfside location for the first time. We tried a large Big Kahuna. While it wasn't the absolute best pizza ever, it was very tasty, and it comes with a WIDE array of toppings. We took the leftovers home.
One sweet tea, and one large pizza with $2 off coupon, around $23.

We had our meet up at the Ultimate California pizza, the Market Common location. I was impressed, the pizza was actually good, the prices were reasonable, the service was friendly and helpful.

I just figured it would be overpriced and the pizza would be funky, I wasn't sure a california pizza would even taste like a real pizza, but I was totally surpised at how good it was. No, it wasn't the best pizza I have eaten, but it was still a pretty tasty pizza.

We got to try California Pizza while we there on Monday night. We thought it was excellent. Larry and I got a supreme and Nathan got the kids cheese. Nathan said it was the best pizza he had ever eaten. But of course he is an expert on pizza.(nothing but cheese)

We grabbed a California Pizza for dinner last night and were very pleased with the service AND the pizza! We went to the one at Surfside and placed our order at the drive through window. We were told about a 15 - 20 mins to make the pizza so we headed to the Kangaroo store across the street to get some milk drove around for a bit and headed back to pick up our pizza.

Large pizza with 4 toppings, $2 off coupon = $17 and some change for dinner (with leftovers) for 3 people. Reheated the left over in the microwave in a ziploc bag and it was just as good as the first time around!

We've eaten here before and always feel it's worth one trip per vacation for good pizza!

Has anybody been to Ultimate California Pizza-Game Zone? This is on my list of restaurants to check out next week while in MB and wondered if the game area was worth it? I have heard the pizza is great !

Thanks!

We have not been to the new restaurant, but those who have say it's a great place to take children. Here's a story from Myrtle Beach Restaurant News:

I was severely disappointed in my last pizza from here a couple of weeks ago. It was greasy and I ended up eating one piece and throwing the complete rest of the pizza away! Not sure what happened in the kitchen but it totally turned me off from California Pizza this trip! I used the one at Surfside with the drive thru window.
