Lots of people on the board were talking about the Golden Griddle so I had to give it a try. When we pulled in I couldn't believe the cars. My first thought was oh my this is going to take a while

It actually only took 10 minutes which was great and the place was really busy. The Golden Griddle is nothing fancy, but the food was good.

Once again I got the French Toast and it was yummy

My mom got two regular pancakes and one buckwheat pancake. The buckwheat was terrible, but the regular was very good

My mother & sister in law split a waffle, eggs and bacon

We enjoyed the Golden Griddle

Deanna, thanks for the review. The bacon looks GREAT! (I hate wimpy bacon!) Thanks for sharking your photos!

I've never seen a Buckwheat Pancake look like that. In fact you could stack 5 to 8 Buckwheat pancakes on top of each other and not be anywhere near that high on the plate. Buckwheat Flower is indigenous to the mountains around us, and a town in the next county hosts a huge Buckwheat Festival every year. Last weekend was the 72nd annual event. The highlight of the festival are the pancake feasts at the Community Center and at churches throughout the county all week, and I've been eating my share for 20+ years. http://www.buckwheatfest.com/ Buckwheat cakes are sour, paper thin, and the picture from the Golden Griddle does NOT look like a true buckwheat cake.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but Buckwheat Pancakes are amazing and should have their own food group!

Scott,

My mom worked for a resort growing up and she loved their buckwheat pancakes. Her first words were this is not a buckwheat pancake, so I am sure she would agree with you.

Still off topic re buckwheat cakes. I grew up eating buckwheat cakes and they were always thinner than thin. I liked them best after they'd mellowed a few weeks. Mom and Dad kept the buckwheat crock going all winter long.

Thank you for posting the like to the WV festival. I didn't know it existed and since we're in Frederick, MD, it's only a 3 hour ride. It's on my calendar for next year.
