Been waiting for a Panera Bread? They have submitted plans for a its first restaurant in Horry County.

David Schwerd, principal planner for Horry County, said plans for the project were submitted in October 2015 to build near the recently built strip mall on U.S. 501 and Debo Drive, just north of Carolina Forest Boulevard.

Schwerd said Panera submitted plans for a 4,200-square-foot standalone building with a drive through.

It's part of a larger development south of Debo Drive and includes a separate 8,184-square-foot strip mall center. One unit of the new strip mall center is identified as a MOD Pizza.

Founded in Seattle, Wash., MOD Pizza has locations in California, Arizona, North Carolina and other states, according to the company website.

I was only ever at a Panera Bread once, which was outside of DC on our September beach trip in 2014. Maybe I'll give it another go.

We just got a MOD Pizza up here. It's like a Chipotle for pizza. Go down the line and build your own pizza your way. Then wait for the fire cooked pizza to be finished.

I like Panera because they have free wi-fi. When we were in WVA and FL this year it was a perfect stop for a cup of coffee and a sandwich. Clean, good service, good food....can't beat that!
