In 1989 Sam and Athina Karos opened Seafare, a buffet, in Murrells Inlet. That restaurant remained open until 2004. In 2000 a second location was opened in Surfside Beach. In 2005 Sam and Athina retired and sold the business to their son, Stephen Karos. The Surfside Beach location was closed, and Seafare Restaurant reopened at its present location.

I'm not suprised about Seafare. We ate there several years ago when they were located next to 544 and I didn't care for it at all. J Edwards is a place that I have never ate at. I wanted to though. We were going to last year and we walk in with flip flops. shorts, and tshirts not knowing it was a upscale dining place by the way everyone was dressed. So we opted out and decided we would try it next year. I guess that is out.

J Edwards did a good business with their Early Bird Special, and the lot was usually full when we drove by. Since the owner died, maybe no one in the family wanted to continue the restaurant business. We tried it once, several years ago, but never returned because we found several other Early Birds that we liked better. Hope something new will open in that spot!
