Hello everybody. New to the board here from PA. I just have a few quick questions, not sure where to post them yet so sorry if in the wrong place. Im going to myrtle beach in Mid Sept 12-19 to be exact and my question is will the majority of stuff still be open? If a few places are down for the season thats understandable but as long as it doesnt look like a complete ghosttown I will be happy.

Welcome to the board.
Most places are still open, however some waterparks may close. Some of the "locals" will be on to answer your question a little better. But we used to go down in mid September and almost everything is still open. It's a little less crowded, cheaper, and a tad cooler(mid 80's),but you should have no problems.

Ron

We'll be arriving on 19-Sept.... I have no kids so I wouldn't know about kid stuff... But all the adult things are open... restaurants... stores.... clubs... golf... etc... Beaches are *not* at all crowded... Water is still warm... little waits for dinner... etc.... A great time to visit!

Go Phillies!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi, City. Thanks for choosing to join our board!

September and October are two of the best kept secrets here at the beach. Shows, restaurants, entertainment venues will be open, and the weather is perfect:

The water parks are usually open until Labor Day. You may find that some businesses renting boats, fishing trips or parasailing have cut back on their hours, but many are in full swing through October.

Depending on what you have in mind, you may want to check by e-mail or phone. Here's a page of Things to Do:

September is great. I will be arriving for 9 days on Sept. 4. Like the previous posts stated, the beaches are far less crowded, traffic is down, water parks have limited hours. Water temp is still in the low to mid 80's, and the air temp is usually warm to hot.

I see you said your from the city of champions......are you from Philly or Hershey?

Or maybe your from Pittsburgh,as they have lots of champions like the Steelers and the Pens.

I am from Somerset about 2 hours east of Pittsburgh. We always visit the last week of September and except for the water parks and amusement parks everything else is open. The weather is usually very nice and warm but not hot. And the water is warm. Its the perfect time to visit I think.

Welcome to the board neighbor. I take it you live close to Pittsburgh.THE CITY OF CHAMPIONS is right. I live near Ford City ( about a 35 mile drive to Pittsburgh.) It sure is a banner year (except for the PIRATES)

You'll find alot of info on the board. Welcome again. By the way if I wasn't already a member I would have used that user name.Cathy

I think Sept (and Oct) are the best times at the beach too. It is pretty much the same except less people :nanner:

Welcome from another Western Pennsylvanian.

I have to agree, you'll get all the information you want from this board. While in North Myrtle, check out Oscars - the Steelers Bar. I believe there are a few others in Myrtle, but I'm not sure their names or where they are.

Murphys Law is another steelers bar.Even though I'm a Bills fan I love going to Murphys.Great food and drink specials and the people that work there are ultra friendly.I've never had a bad meal and their crab legs and raw oysters are incredible.I make sure I stop in twice while we're in Myrtle Beach.
It's on 17 just south of 501

Also check out Southside Grill in Surfside Beach for dinner some night. Owners are from Pittsburgh and I'm sure the decor will suit you. :nanner:
