Hi Patrish,

I wish we were in Little River but we are still in Sugar Land. But not for much longer. Our plan is to move in late March or early April. We are very excited about the move. We have rented our place out for the last three years while we wait to retire. We have been busy fixing the place up and are probably 80% complete. We redid the kitchen. New cabinets (We left the uppers.....they are OK but when we get there I will paint them white to match the lowers), Quartz counters, new appliances etc. We redid all the flooring in LVP. New bathroom vanities and sinks and new toilets. We will replace the Master tub/shower with a free standing shower but it is OK for now. Mostly what we have left is new ceiling fans and lighting fixtures etc.

As far as making friends I have discovered that Our Lady, Star of the Sea Parish is a very active parish with lots of groups. Like the AOH. I am very Irish and should enjoy that.

We have been up there three or four times since we bought to check out the renovations and explore the area a wee bit. Have already found a few restaurants we enjoy and a few old familiar places we have in Houston.

Won't be long now.

Paul

I know you are looking forward to your move and it sounds like you are already fitting right in. I am half Irish....my mother and her sister came to the US when she was about 8.

I couldn't view the link to your photos. Looks like I would have to join Shutterfly, just to see photos. Sorry!

Hi Patrish,

I posted one pic to see if Flickr will work. I hope so as I might like to post pics from time to time.

So you are an Irish colleen? Have you ever been over. I just love it there. I am hoping to get over again next may for our Clan Gathering
in Monaghan town.

BTW if your Mother was born in Ireland you would be eligible for dual citizenship. It's not too difficult to get if you have at least one Grandparent
born in Ireland.

P

Was able to pull up the new posting properly.

Interesting commentary on Irish ancestry/citizenship.

Thanks Kirk,

I spent many years exploring my ancestry and was rewarded for my work (with a lot of luck) in finding my Irish cousins alive and well and thriving in Ireland. I was welcomed by them with open arms and have become part of the family in Ireland. It's been a wonderful adventure.

Most people would consider a 3rd cousin once removed as a distant relative. Not the Irish.......to them that is family.

I hope I am not letting this thread drift too far.

Paul

Everyone is allowed to "drift" in off-season! It helps keep the board active!
