They are starting to do some advertising now. I drove past the building the other day and they have spiffed it up. They have a new website, but there's not much on it yet. Wally said it is owned by the same people who own Legends.

Lynda and I went to the Celebration Theatre and really enjoyed the show, Garth Brooks was a good introduction, Barbara Streisand was a bit weak but the artist who played Tina Turner more than made up for this, she had so much energy. I prefer the guys who played the Bluegrass Brothers when they play the Blues Brothers, Lisa Minnelli was very good and the chap who played Elvis I felt was the best imitator of him I had seen. All in all a very good show.

Lynda and I re-visited the Celebration Music Theatre on the 15th June, all I can say is that it was much better than the show we had seen at the Legends BATB the week before. We had been to Celebration Surfside in March and thought the show may be the same, but it was 4 different acts plus "Elvis" and the Blue Grass Brothers. Dolly Parton started the evening entertainment and if you closed your eyes the voice could have been the real Dolly. The outstanding act for me was Johnny Potash playing Charlie Daniels, his ability with the fiddle was brilliant, (I believe that he has previously appeared on stage with the real Charlie Daniels.) Other preformers included Louis Armstrong and Alan Jackson,
All in all a good nights entertainment, when we next visit Myrtle we will go again. We spoke to another couple two days later while waiting for our baggage at London's Gatwick Airport, they had attended on the same evening and they also said that it was a very good show.

Peter, thanks for the recommendation, and for taking the time to write the review.

Wally and I enjoyed seeing you and Lynda at Sun Fun!

Employees of the Celebration Music Theatre in Surfside Beach have filed six lawsuits in the past three weeks over unpaid wages they say theater owner Patrick Henry owes them.

The theater’s celebrity impersonator show “Superstarz Live” played to small audiences this summer before Henry closed the theater last month. A telephone message at the theater’s box office says the theater “will be open very soon with an all-new ‘Superstarz Live’ show.”
Similar stories:

Henry told The Sun News last week that the future of the theater isn’t certain. He said he is trying to find investors who will take over and reopen the theater. He hopes to know something definite within the next month. If an investor is found, Henry said, it is possible some of the money from the deal could go toward paying the past-due wages.

“It’s all being negotiated right now,” Henry said.

Five of the lawsuits have been filed in magistrate’s court, which means the unpaid wages total $7,500 or less per person.

A sixth lawsuit was filed in circuit court by musician David Porshia, who says Henry owes him about $10,000 in unpaid wages. Porshia, in the lawsuit, said he worked for nearly three months – from May 16 to Aug. 5 -- without a paycheck. A copy of Porshia’s contract, which was included in court documents, shows he was supposed to be paid $850 a week.

Porshia said the theater’s owner gave him $307.12 as a partial payment for the wages he is owed, but he did not receive anything else all summer, according to court documents.

Henry also was supposed to pay for Porshia’s health insurance coverage, according to his contract. Porshia said in the lawsuit that health insurance was provided for a short time and then canceled without his knowledge.

The theater’s managers told Porshia and other performers on Aug. 5 that they were no longer needed because of the show’s planned switch from live performers to a soundtrack and the theater shut down after that, according to court documents.

.When employees complained about not being paid, Porshia said in the lawsuit, the theater’s managers told them “they should pray to their heavenly father and thank thee for thy many blessings.”

Porshia could not be reached for comment. No court date is scheduled for his case and Henry has not filed an answer to Porshia’s allegations.
