The last three years we have stayed at the new North Beach Planation towers. We came there after speding a few years at Mar Vista Grande. Our first 2 years at the Plantation weren't so bad, but last year it was very crowded. You had to scout out the pool chairs from your balcony before you went down and hoped that they were still there when you got to them lol. I personally didn't mind the crowd as I like the atmosphere of the pool area, as the beach is much less crowded. My father on the other hand can't stand it (he's very anti social haha).

So anyway, my mother has been doing some research and found the South Wind on The Ocean. Has anyone ever stayed there or know anyone that has? It looks pretty nice, but seems more quiet and laid back compared to NBP. What do you guys think?

here's a link then http://www.thesouthwind.com/

I have stayed at the Beach Colony several times which is right next to the South Wind. We witnessed its construction over a few years when it was build. Its seemed like a very nice resort, but very quiet at the time. A lot of people would be swimming at the Beach Colony at night and not one soul would be out at the South Wind. The beach is excellent and not too crowded since you are in an area that has lots of houses and smaller condos/hotels. Next to the South Wind going South you have the Beach Colony and Dunes Village. From there it's all houses.

Thanks for the info. I'm just debating whether or not it would be a step back from the North Beach Plantation or not. I'll have to check it out some more for sure.

I visited this South Wind resort not long after they opened. Friends in Roanoke were thinking about staying there. As it turned out, they ended up staying with relatives up in Little River. Anyhow.....

The reception area is beautiful. Not that anybody would spend time there, but it's made to look impressive. I recall that the room we looked at had a lot of ceramic...halls kitchen and baths. And the balcony was as wide as the living room.

It's in a quiet area (compared to the city of MB) and the beaches in that area are wide.
