Hello! My family is looking to rent a house this summer and wanted to know where would be the best place to do so... here are the "requirements" :BandHead:
We have (2) 14 year old girls, (2) Fishing men, who don't enjoy the "beach" much, and me who loves the beach and fishing and not so much the 14 year old girls (joking...maybe...)
We'd like to be near a pier and somewhere the men can go fishing without having to travel far, also close enough to somewhere the girls can walk around and not be BORED...Ugh! We'd also like to be able to walk to a :beerchug: bar/restaurant.
Oh...and it has to be a house, the men refuse a condo... (I know, I know...)
Is this all asking way too much? :dontknow: HELP...please.

I would check around the Surfside Pier. I know there are houses in the area and there are restaurants and bars near the pier. I think Garden City Realty rents houses in that area, as well as a few others whose names I can't think of at the moment.

Oh, and welcome to the best message board on earth!

We have rented through Old Colony Realty in Surfside Beach for the past three years. They are located right next to the Surfside Pier. They are a small real estate company but we have had excellent service from them. They have a website where you can view the houses. We rent a 4 bedroom/3 bath off season but it is about 1/2 block from the beach. I do not know how important oceanfront accomodations are to you. Good luck in your search. Sometimes searching for a place is half the fun.

I've had success with www.vrbo.com.

House rental for 5 people, going to be tough as you don't need a large house and most of the smaller ones will propably rented aleady.

Although Surfside Pier is ok, your best bet will be Garden City, the 14 year olds will be much happier there. There are some smaller houses around, all the old beach houses were destroyed by Hugo, ok 75% of them, including the one where my daughter was born, on Dogwood Dr.

Have 2 bars on the pier with live entertainment all day and night, another 4 bars and 7 or 8 places to eat within walking distance.

Check out vrbo.com and Garden City Realty

Enjoy the beach

Gary

Another posiible if nothing available in Garden City.....Cherry Grove Pier. Located at 3500 Ocean Blvd north in North Myrtle Beach. Small bar on the pier but no live bands that I know of.

Approx 10 blocks south to hub of Cherry Grove businesses. Pizza, ice cream, beach shop etc....Not a bad walk for teens. Small old school beach bar (Harold's On The Ocean) there.

I did quick search for three bedroom house in Cherry Grove. Couple oceanfront at 3800 Ocean Bvd called Hazel's Child.
If ocean front isn't important could always go second or third row. Less money for maybe nicer house. More choices available. Couple more blocks back you could go with a channel house. At high tide the guys could fish off the back deck.

Thanks for the responses.... I've been researching Garden City. I'll keep you posted on what we come up with.
