We have always been Travelers to Myrtle Beach since we were in diapers. We have stayed recently at The Breakers - Paradise Towers and the Anderson Inn/Ocean Club. We are bringing our son,his fiance, and our 1st grandchild down for a week beginning 9/10. We want somewhere nice like the Breakers or Anderson Inn but maybe on S Ocean Blvd. We are considering Captains Quarters, Hotel Blue, Compass Cove, and Oceans One. Any opinions on the best accomodations and price combinations??? Any and all insights will be appreciated. :rastanana: :nanner:

I stayed at the Hotel Blue last October and really wasn't impressed. The room seemed small and the beds were really uncomfortable - they're up on a platform and ours were really hard. They do have tile thru the room which was nice, no nasty carpeting. I'd heard they were recently updated, but our room was pretty rough if they had been, missing lampshades, burns on the furniture, worn bedding, etc. You do get access to the Capt. Quarters pools/etc if you get the braclet at the counter - we didn't do that. The pool at Hotel Blue looked really cool, they have lounge chairs set in the water which was really nice. They also have a swim up bar, but it was closed when we were there.

Out of your choices, the one to stay is Compass Cove

I HIGHLY recommend Oceans One...we have stayed there for the last few years for over a week each trip. ALL of the staff is friendly and helpful. The views are THE BEST in MB (rent one of the end rooms....awesome views from floor to ceiling windows all the way from Ocean Blvd to the ocean) They have washers/dryers in the condos so no dirty laundry to take home and great for the baby's stuff that always seems to get dirty one way or another. They have a nice indoor/outdoor pool, a lazy river, hot tubs, the shallow pool with lounge chairs in it, and a nice kiddie pool area. This is a NON-SMOKING hotel with very strict enforcement, so if you or your family smokes, this isn't the hotel for you. I have had reservations at Captains Quarters and when we looked at the room, we cancelled them. For us, it just didn't feel safe. We have stayed at many hotels in MB and have never found one that tops Oceans One.
Let us know where you stay and how it is .

We have stayed at Oceans One each fall for the past few years. In fact, we should be back on 9/25 if all goes well. The hotel is very nice and the end units(type 10) on the NORTH end upper floors give you the best view. The hotel is strict about its non smoking policy which is fine with us but might be a deal breaker for some. Also this hotel has no restaurant, snack bar, or bar on site.

We really like Compass Cove, but have not stayed at the others, so can't compare. Unfortunately, Compass Cove has not been as generous with fall discounts as they used to be, so we haven't been there the last two trips.

Coral Beach is also very nice and competitively priced. We stayed there last fall and really liked it.
