My parents are traveling to MBSC the week of September 20-26. They have waited until this point to attempt to make reservations and their favorite hotel (Dayton House) does not have any ocean front rooms available for that week. (They like to wait on the weather this time of year.)

Mom called me wanted to know the names of hotels where my hubby and I have stayed...but we have different requirements for accomodations and we would not be interested in the same places -- so I am calling on you guys for help.

They are lively 60 somethings that want something clean, but it doesn't have to be fancy. It needs to have a small kitchen and be Ocean Front. They are looking for something in the $500 a week range. They have always stayed in that 2400 North Ocean Blvd range, but are willing to branch out (even to NMB) if someone has a suggestion!

My dad is internet savvy - so they can scope things out! And we will be down the week of Sept. 6 so we could do some leg work for them if need be.

Have you tried the Monterey Bay Suites? They are having some specials now, I just got a couple emails last week from them about savings. We've stayed there twice and really enjoyed it. Nice, clean rooms with kitchens, oceanfront, they offer a free breakfast.

Thru VRBO we got a weekly rental at Breakers for Sept 26 to Oct 3 for $410 and with taxes and fees it was $530 they did not include linen but you can buy a linen package from them but once we learned they did not included my dad complained that last time we rented thru VRBO they included it and he threatened to cancel the reservation and they gave the linens to us with no cost. I thought it would not be hard to pack a few sheets but my dad did not want to or we could have went to the dollar store and buy some cheap linens but I just wanted to warn you.

Good to know thanks for the warning. That is an interesting way for folks to cut costs.

My parents have landed at Compass Cove and are lovin' it! It is the first time they have stayed that far south in years and they are enjoying all the fun stuff on that end of the strand.
