How does BABW compare to Friends 2 B Made or Build a Truck (I'm not sure if that's the real name)? *prices *quality *fun for kids

I am not very familiar with Friends 2 B Made or the Build a Truck idea, but I am fairly certain that Build-A-Bear Workshop was the first store of its kind to pilot the idea of making-your-own stuffed anything, so I would hazard a guess that all of the other similar stores (Teddy Town USA being included) are knock-offs. The process at BAB includes picking out the "skin" of your animal, selecting an optional sound, getting it stuffed (after kissing a heart to put in it), fluffing it, dressing it, and registering it in the BAB computer so it can have a birth certificate. The cheapest bear is a medium-sized cub that retails for $10 plus tax all by itself if you don't spring for any extras...however, the prices can skyrocket from there depending on how much you choose to embellish your bear.

Build A Bear Workshop, Friends 2 Be Made, Bear Factory (UK) and Ridemakerz are all owned guessed it BAB!! Very sneaky.

I was going to say, I know the BAB store at Broadway also offers the Friends 2 B Made line, so I figured they must be associated somehow.

Are all of the prices about the same? My kids have done BABW so many times other places. I thought they might like to try something new.

I'd say the prices are similar. Here is a link to Ridemakerz -- as you can see there are a couple of vehicles in the $12 range, but mostly in the 19-22 and up range. Looks kinda cool actually. Then you add all the stuff like radio control or not, sound or not..etc. Could get pricey.

You can create an account, sign up for emails, maybe they will send you a coupon?

We make a trip to BAB every year. Yes, the prices are similar. As our daughter has gotten a little older, she has chosen to make a doll at Friends 2 B Made for the last couple trips. I'll have to say, it really is pretty cute. Once you choose your doll and have it stuffed, you can take it over to the "beauty salon", strap it in a chair and proceed to make up it's hair. They have play blow dryers, brushes, etc. Our daughter just loves it. The clothes are similar to the animal section. She saves her allowance, money for her school grades from the grandparents, etc. and just has a big ole' time. We usually head there on our arrival day so she can have our new family addition for the whole vacation.

I've been in the store, but didn't make a car. We did come back later in the week to do one, but it was to crowded. I'll make one next year for sure.

RideMakerz looks awesome! Where is it located in relation to Build a Bear? Is it nearby?

According to the map, it is in Charleston Place -- AA201b

As far as BAB -- I recall with the coupon we used we paid 30 and I think we got out the door a LOT less than most of the people in there. I think I will have a hard time passing by Ridemakerz, especially because of husband and not my daughter! :nanner:

OK, I just went to the site and made a pretend one online -- $78 bucks and that was with only about 1/2 - 2/3 of the accessories. Subtract $25 dollars for remote control and it's not TOOOO bad, but still higher than BAB! LOL

Where did you get the coupon for BABW?

Karasu, you can get the Build-A-Bear coupon in most any coupon book in MB. The Sunny Day Guide and Strand Magazine come to mind first.

we didn't do BABW last year when we went to MB. we'd done it every year and they just didn't seem interested, my son doesn't really care anyway. he's just 3 this year. lol. he could care about bears. but now i know he'd love to do the ridemakerz thing this year! i just did a truck online and it was $37. so with a coupon that wouldn't be bad at all. i didn't give it remote control or anything too too fancy, he is just 3. he only really cares if they're big and make noise! lol! so i think this could be something super fun for us to take him to do! i like to find things for him, i'm always worried he'll get lost in sea of girly activities! i'm so glad i found this post!
