We've stayed a couple of times at Oceanside Village and loved it there.
Matter of fact, if we hadn't bought our RV that we use at Pirateland, we'd still be staying at OV.
It is definitely NOT a campground. I have a couple of pictures taken around OV, but not a lot of what all is there. They have 2 pools (one inside one outside) a huge field where kids play, playgrounds, etc. They are located across the street from beach access and it has it's own crossing area with parking for golf carts or cars available.
GCs are great for riding around the community, going to the pools, riding across the road to the parking area for OV guests at the ocean access. I'd highly recommend getting one. They are not 'overrun' with carts as campgrounds are simply due to the fewer number of people in the community as compared to campgrounds,
It is a gated community and you can rent golf carts there. If you want one during busy times, I recommend you call ahead and reserve one. We've rented places there both through Rose Realty and also through VRBO. We've never been disappointed.
The first 9 pics under 'Oceanside Village' have some of the beach houses that you can see. They range in small mobile homes to large beach houses on Stilts. If you go to VRBO or Rose REalty's rental site, you can see all the different types of rentals available.
