MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A brand new restaurant is looking to build in the heart of Myrtle Beach. It's not the typical sit-down dining experience found commonly in Myrtle Beach; it will have a one-of-a-kind view. The restaurant, called Bluefin, will fill two oceanfront plots of former motels torn down over the last few years. The space is now two parking lots that would transform into a nearly 17,000-square-foot elevated restaurant, about a block and a half north of the Sky Wheel.

I seriously hope that's not the final design of the building. It's hideous.

Phroggy,

You did pick up the design was targeted for the "younger" generation  I have no idea how old you are, but I am not sure it's a bad idea. I for one am not a big fan of modern design, but my son who is 26 loves it. It looks from the pics that all the windows will give great views. I am just glad the city continues to give downtown a facelift.

It will be interesting to see what the final product is as to what they think the younger generation wants. I thought Myrtle Beach already had a wide variety that catered to everyone. Sure some of them have pitfalls with service/management, but this new place could easily have that too. So far to me it will just end up being another overpriced place that they think we will want. Only to have the nice view going for it.

For the record, I'm 35 years young. And missingthebeach is right: overpriced will be the exact description that will be used frequently when talking about this place. It's not appealing to me in the least. It's very unwelcoming and far too "modern". I prefer rustic and inviting as well as intimate. This place offers none of that. It will thrive during tourist seasons but falter otherwise.

We have a place in Lexington, KY. that has went with the contemporary theme. The place even has a two or three story fish tank that has jelly fish floating around in it. The menu is very limited and the portions are not big enough to fill up a 5 year old with there adult entrees. The prices were not excessive, but the portions were small and the food was not all that great. I don't mind eating a smaller portion, but please allow me to pay appropriate prices.

Here's to hoping they keep the exact designed as shown in the picture and that they succeed.

I think the new restaurant looks really interesting! Looks like a view could be had for most seating areas...that is surely a plus! We will be willing to give it a try...hope it succeeds...the sand volleyball courts should be a draw for the younger crowd, as well!

They're not targeting an old fart like me, but I'd try it.
