Just wondering if anyone knows what they were doing with the barge parked near the old Pavilion area. Looks like they have a crane on it digging some pilings or something. There is another smaller barge parked further out in the ocean and a tug boat that keeps going back and forth.

I think all the mess we are seeing on Ocean Blvd. (and in NMB too) is part of the ocean outfalls to carry rainwater offshore and remove unsightly pipes from the beach. It will be ongoing throughout this year.

I just signed on to find out the same thing :) I've been checking out the webcams each morning as my excitement grows for our upcoming trip and I've been wondering for days. Of course the answer is here :)

Makes sense. I thought I saw some of those big concrete pipe sections sitting on the smaller barge, but it was a bit hard to tell from the Breakers. Thanks for the info Patrish!
