MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Asheville, NC based Tupelo Honey Café is making its way to Myrtle Beach and will offer made-from-scratch Mountain South cuisine to guests at the old Tommy Bahama Restaurant on Howard Avenue in Market Common…

I'm sad Tommy Bahama Restaurant closed. My family and I really liked the food and the atmosphere. But, I'm excited to try Tupelo Honey Cafe. I took a look at a couple of their menus on their website (it seems that each location has different speciality items) and it definitely seems like a place I would like.

I was getting concerned about that space being empty. I don't know anything about this restaurant, but when I logged on, the website told me : "Tupelo Wednesday half price wine bottles and glasses"

I love it already! Image

The way the article reads, it looks like Tupelo Honey cafe tailors each restaurant to its host location.

Many of the comments to their announcement on Facebook expressed disappointment that it wasn't Cheesecake Factory inheriting that site. Based on some previous comments in various similar discussions on this board, they're not alone...

Well it's nice something is taking the place of the Tommy Bahama failure. I notice the mention of Cheesecake Factory and have to laugh. Several years ago we tried it and loved it. We went back to one about three months ago. They've really gone downhill. The food was less than mediocre but the service was still pretty decent. For the price, I'll stay away.

I'll look into the Tupelo Honey Cafe and see what it has to offer.

We have a Tupelo Honey in Chattanooga & Knoxville and I have tried the one in Chattanooga. It is good and I will have to give it another try before I put it on my really good list

I've eaten at the one in Asheville before and it is yummy! Long wait time however and very popular place in the downtown Asheville area.
