Anyone else see this or maybe even tried it yet? Check out WMBF, I saw the article there yesterday. There are also youtube videos out there. I guess it has opened in myrtle beach, but didn't see where. I would imagine there will be scrutiny as to the safety of this activity, but I have to admit, it looks like it would be a blast!!!

It is a lot of fun, if done properly. No idea what the setup is like in MB tho.

"Cannonball Coming!" Don't think anyone wants to see me hurtling out over the Ocean in a jetpack! Does look like fun, though.

Scott

By the way, the website says they are located:

Myrtle Beach Jetpack Adventures
2915 (29th Ave S) Ocean Blvd
(Located Beside Damon's Oceanfront Restaurant)
Myrtle Beach, SC 29577

It is just kicking off, it is actually operating out of Downwind Sail next to Damon's on the Blvd., it is owned by Shane from MB Ziplines and not Downwind Sails.

It is not cheap but it is an experience.

I would definitely do this if I had an entertainment/adventure budget. Unfortunately, it is just beach, pool, and browsing shops for us. We don't even plan for mini golf.

I haven't looked it up yet to see how much it is. If you want a review bad enough, you can send me the cost to my paypal account

By the way there is a $5 off coupon on the Jetpack Adventures site right now or you can get $10 off with the discount card that Habitat for Humanity offers on their website http://www.habitatmb.org

Looks really cool! They do this near Seaside, NJ in the bay...

Too much $$$$ for me though!

I would LOVE to do this, but at a $105 for 15min, I can't justify the cost. I think the technology is neat, but it would take me 15 minutes just to figure it out.

It really is not expensive, the units wholesale for $55K and retail for $65K or so.

A Jet Ski rents for $60-70 a half hour and an hour is around $110.

A charted 42' sailboat runs $225 and hour and he has been booked the last 2 weeks, even had a couple who got engaged the other day out for a cruise.

I don't think its really fair to compare it Gary. The Jetpack is something that has a big learning curve before it is "fun".

From my conversation with the owner, the learning curve is not a factor, you can fly with 10 minutes of instruction and then a few minutes of actual use to get the feel of it.

As in anything practice makes perfect, I have seen a number of bad accidents, including death with jetski's. People think these are so easy to use, and they are, but without having many hours of practice, when something happens like a large wake, a boat coming around a curve in the river and in your path, etc. a rider with less than 100 hours may panic and then accidents happen.

To use the jetpack one time would be awesome and I will use it once the water warms up.

I drove a few race cars around the MB Speedway and that was awesome, did it and don't need to do it again but that's another of the great things we have to offer.

Did you know we also have skydiving now, yes sir, jumping out of a perfectly good plane, just for the thrill. It's at NMB Airport.

This looks like superhero type fun. Jetskis do scare me. Know too many people who have been injured and even 1-2 who were killed. People think they are invincible on them. I was looking at the MB zip line site and for one zipline and one free fall (YIPES) it was $30.00. Seems reasonable.
