the closer you get to the beach the more backed up 501 will be on Saturday afternoon...can even be backed up on a Friday afternoon...from about Aynor on traffic will increase...We always stop at the visitor center in Aynor...mainly to use the restroom before we head on in...nothing worse than needing a "potty" break and being stuck in traffic... I do not know anything about 701. :dontknow:

I hope this helps you a little...the earlier you get to the beach areas the better the traffic issues.

If you are headed to North Myrtle you will want to exit off just past Aynor onto Veteran's Hwy 22. This will bypass all the 501 traffic. Things can get a little backed up in Aynor, but not too bad. We have been traveling to North Myrtle for years and this road is a lifesaver. I am not familiar with 701.

22 in Anyor. I don't stay in NMB and I still use 22. It will shorten your time in. Its a four lane road with no traffic lights.
