About 10 years ago, the Pastor from our Church moved to a congregation in Durham, NC. We have stayed in touch, and always wanted to visit him. So, on our Spring Break trip in March we drove straight to Durham on a Sunday morning and surprised him for morning service (it was a great visit!).

Anyway, we decided to make our trip scenic for the drive into Myrtle Beach. Normally I would have come down the quickest way, but we decided to take Interstate 40 all of the way to Wilmington and then Highway 17 all of the way down the coast. It was a cold Sunday afternoon in March, so we didn't meet much traffic.

I was disappointed that we couldn't see much of the coast/ beach on the drive from Wilmington, but it was definitely a different route for us and we did see some pretty areas that we hadn't seen before. I wouldn't recommend it during the busy summer season, but it was fun for us and just made the road trip that much better.
