Does anyone know of a way to get to Myrtle Beach from Danville without having to get on I-40 and I-85. Getting too old to handle all that mess. If you know of another way that branches off of 220 south before you get on I-40 I would really appreciate it. But also, don't want to go though the city of Greensboro. Thanks out there all you beach travlers.

My friend Judy, who is visiting me right now from Roanoke, came this way. She says:

Go from Danville to Martinsville on 58. Take 220 S to 68. That takes you by the airport in Greensboro . (You will have to get on I-40 E for 2.2 miles.) Keep to the left and exit 212-A toward I-85 Asheboro. Go 8 miles and take exit 96 toward Asheboro. Then you will be on I-73S/220 S. Stay on that for 79 miles.

Merge onto US 1 S. Go 17 miles, turn left on SC State Route 9 S/W. Stay on that 11.1 miles , then turn right on SC 38. Go 2.3 miles and make left turn on 38. Go 9/10 mile and turn right, staying on Rt. 38. Go 28 miles and stay straight onto 501.

Follow 501 to a right turn onto 17 S .

You will only be on I-40 for about 10 miles.

That's the best we can do.
