We travel from Charleston WV to Columbia SC down I-77. We spend the night (or a day at my son's in Columbia) so it's a nice way to break up the trip. My Mom is 82 and gets really stiff if riding in the car for extended periods of time.

I avoid traveling on weekends to miss the traffic and like traveling on Tues or Wednesdays. Here's my question...

I am going to be Grand-dog sitting for my daughter for a week and I need to be there 5th of July weekend. (UGH!)

I can leave after Mom's Dr appointment on Thursday but it will be 4:00 pm before I get out of Charleston which will put me into Columbia for the night about 10:00 pm.

Do any of you drive mostly in the evenings and if so... does it help miss traffic?
Once I get past Lake Norman/Charlotte I'm usually pretty clear.

What's your 'time of day' driving experiences?
