It looks like the Market Common might be losing their grocery store...

I'm sorry, but not surprised. The Pig was very close to us and I would watch for their specials and go there when I needed something in a hurry. But when Wal-Mart opened near us, I think we all saw the beginning of the end for the Pig. Previously their nearest competition was Food Lion (across from the State Park) and I think this Food Lion location will also be hurt by Wal-Mart. The big question now is what will replace the Pig in The Market Common?

It would be a nice size for Kohl's, Ross, Ulta, Rack Room, Stein Mart, Marshall's, Target...or even another groery store. The Market Common (in my openion) already has more than enough "bling" stores.

Down with the machine! I haven't shopped at Walmart since I left work there 2.5 years ago. I'm sure Walmart nor anyone else will replace the large craft beer selection Piggly Wiggly has of local and regional brews. What a shame.

Was it the small type of Walmart store that put the hurt on it?

We usually shop at the Piggly Wiggly beside -Crabby Mike's just to avoid the craziness of Walmart. If I was a local and had to live in MB year round I would probably be more concerned about price. For some odd reason vacation money just spends a little easier.

We usually go to Kroger just to avoid the Wal mart insanity.

My worse nightmare is WalMart. So sad to hear that the "Pig" is pulling out of Market Commons. Does anyone really enjoy shopping at WalMart, I sure don't!!

Where am I going to go now to buy some local craft beers to take home? Most places only carry the big name brands that still consider themselves "craft".
