When we come down next week, we girls want to hit a winery (thinking Duplin?) and the guys want to go to a brewery. New South Brewing? Any suggestions?

Myrtle Beach lacks a quality beer scene. Liberty (Broadway at the Beach) is an in house brewery for a steakhouse. Their beer is below average for the most part. There's also another in house brewery further south in Pawley's Island called Quigleys, again its an in house brewery with somewhat average beer. If chain breweries are your thing, Gordon Biersch is in Market Commons, but again their beer is ehh. Lastly, there's New South Brewing, they are only open select hours and do tours, not a full blown tap room.

If you're looking for decent craft beer on tap/cans/bottles check out Hurricane Maggies, Grumpy Monk, Liberty Tap Room, and the one ABC Store in NMB near the Taco Bell. You would think MB would have a strong craft beer scene, but it doesn't..we brought our own beer down the last 2 years lol.

As far as wine goes hit up Duplin outside Barefoot Landing.

I'd say your best chances are Carolina Ale House or American Tap House for craft beer drinking, both at or near Broadway at the Beach. Not sure if they brew anything locally, but I do believe they sell national craft beers.

American Tap House definitely has a better selection of better local and national craft beers., but is more expensive.

Carolina Ale House is a chain that doesn't have a lot to offer besides the standard big name "craft beers" that you see pretty much everywhere.

Sometimes Bully's at Barefoot has a decent craft selection.

Silly me, I forgot about the Brass Tap in Market Commons. They have a decent list and full food menu.

Thank you! I have written them all down. It sounds like Liberty and Quigley's might make the cut! :)

No problem. It's crazy how North Carolina has so many breweries to pick from and SC is so scarce. You'd have to drive to Charleston to have some variety.

True... I just moved south of Charleston and there are quite a few breweries down here. What a Holy City ! :nanner:

Indeed, I'll finally make it to Charleston next June.
