Spring breaks vary from school to school and from state to state. Seems to me sometimes that spring breaks go on for at least a month. (Myrtle Beach High School's spring break is 3/25 - 4/3.)

But to answer your question, it won't be very busy the first week in April when you plan to visit. It starts getting busy when schools let out and families start to arrive.

Hopefully the weather will be nice and you will be able to celebrate a fantastic anniversary at the beach!

Patrish is on target with her response. The busy season doesn't begin until mid-May or so. Myrtle Beach is SLOWLY becoming a semi-popular spring break destination due to affordability. The weather can be a mixed bag in April: either it rains and is chilly or it can be 80 degrees and gorgeous. Don't expect much more than get your feet wet in the ocean though.

The Phroggster is correct...water temp in the beginning of April is COLD!.. We are heading down the first week of April this year as well. We have been many many times during this time period. Everything is open, the beaches are semi-empty, and we love it!!

Enjoy whatever the weather brings! You're in Myrtle Beach and that's always a good thing!

My kids played a little in the ocean last April. That's not saying that it wasn't cold though. No way that I could tolerate it, but the kids did run in and out of it a few times.

We are going at the end of April, when we have spring break (April 22nd - May 2nd). We get an extra day because we never used our snow days so they give us extra days each month. We usually are there in August but we are looking forward to going in April....actually I would be looking forward to it any month :)
