Just a reminder that as of March 1 Parking Meters are back in Myrtle Beach and Surfside Beach.

Surfside Beach has raised their fee to $2.00 to park at Surfside Pier. Other parking lot meters and pay stations now charge $1.75 instead of $1.50

The parking meters where I live try and charge you still but they are all jammed with coins. The best part is the city still tries to give tickets.

Thanks for the info, Bruce! I've never been a big fan of Surfside policies, but I hope the increase won't hurt businesses who depend on visitors with cars.

Tell me something.....
My question is about the two parking lots (on the north end of town near the Holiday Inn and on the south end off Ocean Boulevard on 13th Ave. South.) Last year (I think it was) the town dropped the parking rates to 50ยข an hour, hoping that the cheapest price in town will be too good for people to pass up. Do you know if this is still in effect? THANKS,

Everything keeps going up except my pay. :???: I can't remember last year, but a few years ago Surfside had parking meters in the grassy areas in front of the condos. It may have went to No Parking last year, not sure. Anyway, how can you justify charging people to park when you are not out any upkeep on the spots? Just grass, sand, and a parking meter. At least at some of the public access they do have paved lots, access ramps, restrooms and washoff areas, so you are getting a return for the high rate. . That's my gripe for the day.

Don't know anything about the lot up by the Holiday Inn, but the new ordinance states "The Value Parking Lot, located at 13 Ave. South, will remain 50 cents per hour. Also, weekly parking passes will not increase, with the price staying $40. Daily passes will jump from $8 to $10. "
Non residents can also purchase a yearly pass (sticker) at city hall for $100, although I believe there is a limited number of these available. (I have one of these)
