I received the following in an e-mail, and I am clueless. I am going to send him this link so he won't have to join the board to get an answer. Thanks, y'all.

Hi Patricia,
I stumbled across your website as my family with 4 kids (ages 11-7) will be road tripping it to Myrtle Beach from Minnesota this August. We are trying to decide on accommodations offered through a time share club, and our options are Myrtle Beach Resort (Renaissance Tower) and Grand Shores Ocean Resort. Do you have a recommendation? Is there a difference in beach/water quality between the locations?

Haven't stayed at either one. Have heard good reviews for both.

Just looking at the two.
Comparing photo galleries and looking at satellite maps...

I'd say Grand Shores would be the nicer, higher end of the two.

Kids might enjoy water park, etc at Myrtle Beach resort better.

Grand Shores better location. Residential vs in between two campgrounds.

Driving to attractions from Grand Shores might be just a hair easier. Closer to middle of Strand vs at south end.

Beach and water pretty much the same either one but Grand Shores probably less crowded due to location.

Just guessing your ocean view looks to be about the same at either one. If on side of building you'll be looking up or down the beach. View at Grand Shores might be nicer.

Apologies to others if my opinion isn't close. Like I said. No real experience with either one.

Ah thanks, I have missed some of the musings that go on here as well as the recomendations and reviews.

I am just so busy that I find little time to get over here to the board. I was supposed to be retired and only working a few hours a day helping others and that
did not work out as planned.

Stay well y'all and keep smiling

Gary

We've stayed in the Grand Shores area for several years and love it. The hotels are along the beach and everything else is residential back to Kings Highway. Grand Shores is the northernmost hotel, and there are large residences on the beach to the north resulting in fewer crowds. Grand Shores looks very nice on the outside and the grounds appear to be well maintained. (Pop is correct -- very easy access via Highway 22 onto Kings Highway and you are there in 5 minutes.)

Hello, Jack. Off-topic, but I'm happy to see you're still following the board. As always, thanks for your input.

Thanks, Patrish. I still monitor the message board but don't often post. I'll try to be more visible!
