That's a shame. We went there this past February (Planet Hollywood) and did the Bingo Lunch and had a blast and the place was full.

Well Planet Hollywood made it longer than NASCAR Café and the All Star Café. They all opened around the same time. I was never at MagiQuest though.

I'm always sorry to hear about closings and wonder about the reason(s). Thanks for posting this.

We went to Planet Hollywood a couple years ago because we had friends with us who really wanted to go. We felt the prices were very high and the decor made the place unappetizing. We felt grossed out by the creepy figures and over all decor of the whole place. *shudder*. I'm not surprised about them closing.

I remember when those places first went in. All Star Cafe was probably surviving just on people that didn't want to wait 3 hours to eat at Hard Rock and Planet Hollywood. Even the souvenir shops had waits to get in. I think that once the new wore off that people started making choices based more on food quality compared to price and they didn't match up with other offerings in the area. Another thing I think that made a difference was that there were very few of these around when they were built in Myrtle Beach, but it wasn't long before they started expanding to more places. I also guess that the internet might of made a difference in making the brand "less cool" because it no longer required a visit to the establishment to purchase a souvenir t-shirt.

I ate at the Hard Rock, Planet Hollywood, and NASCAR (in Orlando). Food was not super in the first two, but I must say the food at the NASCAR was pretty good. One of our better meals of the week in Orlando.

I agree, the food at NASCAR Café was on the better side, which is why we went there yearly as our first stop at the beach. I was actually really surprised when they closed their doors years ago being that the Carolina's is the heart of NASCAR. I think a lot of it had to do with the fact that they rebranded to the NASCAR SportsGrille, changed everything for the worst IMO.

As for the others, All Star never had a chance, and Planet Hollywood/Hard Rock were a one and done for us. I think we gave the HC another try in NYC and we got the same thing in MB, disappointment. It's pretty much an end of an era when it comes to all those moving/shutting down.

Hopefully they decide to put on-of-a-kind Myrtle Beach restaurants and the like. We personally prefer to go to places on vacation that we can't get back home or in other places. Still sad to see things close. We tried to go to Planet Hollywood twice and both times it had such a long wait, so we left.
