No, not the beach store :???: ! Do whales ever visit the Grand Strand area? Seems odd that no one ever mentions anything except dolphins!!

They are around seasonally. You can check for Right Whales by choosing a month, then Mid Altantic.

Have you heard about this?

I've seen dolphins at MB many times. I've never seen a whale.

I think I remember a story from a few years ago about a whale that washed ashore somewhere in MB or NMB, and they put it on a truck and took it somewhere.

We saw a whale off Garden City Beach 2 weeks ago, it was small but it was a whale.

That had to be cool Gary!! Love seeing dolphins, so seeing a whale would be over the top :hello: ! I've just been curious as to why whales don't normally show up in the Grand Strand vicinity !

That was the 2nd whale I have ever seen here, the 1st was maybe 12 years ago, it was in the area for a few days, by Springmaid Pier.

There have been other accounts of beached whales over the years along our Coast, I just had not seen them myself.

Why we don not see more whales, I'm not sure but I'll guess:

Long Bay is shallow and the bottom is sandy without vegetation growth. These 2 factors make sense to me, yet I could be wrong.

Last year we saw an Orca breach along where the dolphins always breach directly in front of us. Both myself and my wife saw it. Dorsal fin was huge and we could see the tell tale black and white.
